Very sad news... I grew up in a home where the irrelevant and surreal humour of Spank Mollygan (Spike Milligan to those not in the know) was held in high esteem, so his appearances in the various Q/There's A Lot of It About sketch shows are where I best remember him... RIP John

Another sad loss from my youth, her scream on Space 1999 was like nothing I'd ever experienced and it was good to see hew reprise the role for the fan inspired "Final Message from Moonbase Alpha" originally shown back in the real 1999...

I was another who only really knew of his work with âItâll Be Alright on the Nightâ but I did recently see a YouTube documentary where he commented warmly about the Goons, and having been brought up in a house where my father was a fan, this was music to my ears. RIP Denis đ

Strangely enough, I'm working my way through The Sweeney series one at the mo and was watching Golden Boy tonight whilst having my evening nosebag. I remember him more from Lovejoy and The Football Factory. RIP Dudley

I think I remember first seeing her in one of the "Confessions..." films as a young lad and fell in love with her then. She also appeared in Last of the Summer Wine as an old Compo flame, after Bill Owen passed away... rest in peace Liz

Never thought I'd see the day, but I've just unticked Marmite and replaced it with Other... the other now being... Smoother taste to Marmite and a fraction of the cost... off to spread some on two slices of bloomer toast

Having never worn them, I bought a pair of flip flops for the gym (between changing and shower, not for working out) and they were bl*ody uncomfortable and a trip hazard waiting to happen. However, I now find myself slipping them on at home when its warm, even though they are still uncomfortable and climbing stairs in them is an accident waiting to happen. But what else can you wear? The Yoof of today are now wearing the slip on variety with socks when out and about and the less said about good old "jesus creeping" sandals and socks, the better!

The scene in the park where Arthur and Terry meet for the first time is priceless. After Terry says Arthur looks like Groucho Marks, the way he slips, with cigar in hand, from the farthest end of the bench towards Terry in a manner you could easily associate with said comic, this has me in stitches every time. You don't write comic detail like that, it has to be the actors skill all the way (unless jno has a script with notes telling us otherwise) đ

The second year of Minder got off to quite a start with two great episodes in a row. I didn't remember this one all that well and it is very good! Not very PC at times by today's standards but Terry and Arthur's attitudes are believable for their characters considering when this was made. I know it shouldn't be, but the scene in the antique shop where Terry points out Jim's orientation to Arthur has me in stiches. The look on both their faces when he catches them in contact and Arthurs deep voice in reply is priceless.
Incidentally, what is the origin of the word "case", when describing living/co-habiting with somebody?

As has been mentioned earlier in this thread, the passage of dialogue between Arthur and Terry on the train to Brighton is pure unadulterated Minder at its very best. Arthur's plan to fleece unsuspecting punters with the help of contacts mixes effortlessly with reminiscences about train travel in days gone by, at least before Light Ale and an individual fruit pie tickled the culinary senses... Later in the antique shop, Arthur's raised eyebrows at Terry's greyhound knowledge is quickly followed by a the startled facial expression when Terry camply mentions the sport of queens. A quick glance at Jeremy Burnham-Jones, a subtle tilt of the head follows before he tries to explain away Terry's humour. Absolute magic... one of the very best episodes which is unfortunately ruined a damp squid of an anti-climatic ending...
