Not a fan but a lot of lads at my school in the 1970s were into Steely Dan.

His death resulted in the now playing show n 6 music to be dedictated to him tonight, even though I don't think I had ever heard Steely Dan played on 6 music previously.
I remember he produced some China Crisis a;bums back in the 80s, but although I know some SD tunes, a tad too bland for my liking.
RIP

Steely Dan had their moments. They are from a genre and time-period that could have meant dull music, but they had some fine singles in the UK.
'Do It Again' and 'Haitian Divorce' spring to mind, good listens that take you somewhere.
A bit like Supertramp. Should be 'naff' but are actually great.
RIP Walter Becker.
