Sad news this. Saw him live in Cardiff the 90s, superb - his tunes were great and had a real cowboy association for me. It was clear this man was nothing but a professional to me, at the gig (granted I'd had a few) I remember him being funny and down to earth too.
There are not many tunes better than this...
RIP Glen Glen sadly suffered from Alzheimer's - it is nasty and one day I hope science will eradicate this from our world.

Very sad. He was the Texas Ranger in the original True Grit film as well. Heard him interviewed a few years ago, came across as a genuinely likeable person RIP Cowboy.

Superb musician and singer. He knew he was on his way out a few years ago so at least he had time to put his house in order.
Agree with jno re Wichita Lineman. Perfection.
RIP Glen.

Not my cup of tea at all, but going by the review of his life I saw this morning, the guy played for some of the greats long before he hit the big time himself.
RIP

What MANY have no idea about is how s**t hot Glen Campbell was as a guitarist ... check this out:
Tell me how often you see Clapton playing with his little finger. 'Classical Gas' below - don't attempt that one with out some major time investment practicing!

He had an impressive list of credits as a session musician playing on records by people like The Monkees and Gene Clark to name two. Campbell provided the distinctive guitar riff on The Monkees' Mary Mary. I like his stuff from the '60s especially Witichita Lineman which is an all around excellent song/recording. That song was a big hit when I was little and one Sunday on the drive home from my grandparents it seemed to be on every station my parents tuned the car radio to.
RIP Mr. Campbell

Glen Campbell. Brilliant.
Songs like Wichita Lineman, Galveston and Where's The Playground Susie? are just timeless. Jimmy Webb wrote superb songs for him.
And what a truly great guitar player he was too:

How can anyone dislike Glen's wonderful rendition of 'Wichita Lineman'? One of the Best 45s of All Time.

I was listening to my Glen Campbell Greatest Hits CD today and was struck once again by what an amazing team Campbell and song writer Jimmy Webb were. Just amazing stuff! Wichita Lineman, Gentle On My Mind etc.

Yes, I also like 'Wichita Lineman' and the general songs of Glen Campbell and Jimmy Webb.
R.I.P. Glen Campbell.
