Fantastic voice, I agree, but a pain to work with. The normally laid back relaxed Slash was at his wits end working with Scott.

Well, poor Brucie is ill, and can't do Strictly at Christmas! Bald, can't dance and has been around since year dot, so how long will those last legs last? (The tasty wife, I'd offer to look after) Will Brucie make it past Christmas? Will he kick the bucket just before Christmas Day and ruin Christmas with cr*p clips and false gushing celebrity tributes or does he have a few more years in him yet?

Sad to report the passing of Anthony Valentine. Immortalised in Colditz, Raffles and of course, Minder as Maurice Michaelson.

I've ALWAYS had Brucie as a very unsavoury sleaze, safe but sleazy. His wig is a disgrace. Wogan, also a wig wearer is pretty harmless but I didn't like the way he charges a fee for the usual Children in Need nonsense. He talks non stop, but you feel your daughter would be safe with him. Bruce is an older version of John Leslie methinks.

Vinyl rules. However, the majority of my collection is on my iPods, taken from CDs which I still have. My punk collection on vinyl is worth a lot of money. Loved the gimmicks of picture discs and coloured vinyl, but the sound quality was ropey. Hmmmm, tough one. Now I appreciate vinyl more, but from 1987 onwards, I couldn't replace it fast enough with CDs! CDs have bonus tracks you wouldn't get with vinyl, as stressed, ideal for storage. As I'm nostalgic and my punk vinyl is Mrs Aces pension, I will go vinyl.......Just!

Living in HK, we didn't get Alf Garnett, but the U.S. version, All In The Family featuring Archie Bunker as the racist bigot head of the family. I didn't 'get' the comedy at the time (mid 70's) but having the appalling canned laughter helped me laugh at the appropriate moments.

Loved his cross dresser character in The Sweeney as well. An excellent actor, gifted stage actor as well I believe.

Sad passing of Colin today, just a few days after the Kes thread. Immortalised in The Sweeney as well, but famous for Chariots of Fire.

Mrs Ace and I visit ALDI a lot, impressed they are now getting known brands in now. However, a few years ago, Lidl had some excellent guitar stands at £3 each! As I have many guitars, I went and brought all the stock they had (8 items) ALDI seem to employ some foxy cashiers as well, which is nice.

Connery in Dr No IS Bond, but I love Live and Let Die best, so it's a tie. However, Moore is a gent whereas Connery ids a tosser, so it's Moore for me.

I too am voting for Caroline simply because of her bit part in The Spy Who Loved Me. Maddy's bits are just as impressive. Shame she didn't show them off more in her bit part in 'Live & Let Die'. They're hardly 'bits'.

Not much of a Bond fan so cant vote, but OCTOPUSSY opening scene features the delightful Page 3 model, Corrine Russell. Don't ask me how I know.......I just do.

I HATED Herbie, just HATED him, which is odd as I queued to see him at Disneyland in 1989. My favourite childhood film is Chitty. I STILL watch it EVERY TIME it's on TV, although I HATE the songs Hushaby Mountain and Truly Scrumptious. When I grow up, I want to be like the eccentric grandfather.

Regarding Tommy Cooper, ask yourself this, if someone came on stage half-drunk and did dire basic magic tricks telling the kind of gags from a Christmas cracker at the X-Factor judges, he'd be booed off stage and told in no uncertain terms how poor he was.
That said, his act was 'of its time'. And I saw him die on stage. I really did.

Its Big Ron and Little Ron for me. Morecombe & Wise were only funny with their Christmas Specials (sadly dated now) whereas you can still watch The Two Ronnies, and whilst the fashion is of its time, the gags are still very good. Actually, without sounding too un-PC, I thought Benny Hill was better than Morecombe & Wise.
Although I went off Little Ronnie as he 'sacked' Clash guitarist Mick Jones as a 12 year old 'dog walker'. Mick (and friend Robin Banks) used to collect Ronnies dog and just hang around the local park till it was time to return the dog,(which was still wanting its walk) and collect their five shillings. That's gospel truth as well.

I will say fair play to Eddie for quitting the Marines saying how hard it was. His dad, Phil the Greek was furious Eddie quit. But at least he tried, unlike his brother Charles who is decorated with medals and gongs for doing very little service. Oh, a suppressed shirt lifter all day long.

At a particular quiet time at sea, the Rear Admiral of HMS Illustrious decided on some surprise manoeuvres at an early start. By all accounts, Andrew was livid to be woken up at 05.30hrs and demanded a meeting with the Rear Admiral. He went on record to remind the Rear Admiral, "In case you have forgotten, this IS my mother's Navy!" The Rear Admiral meekly cancelled further surprise manoeuvres, another words, was DESPERATE to keep his pension. For those unfamiliar with Officer rank, it's the equivalent of a beat bobby calling the shots to a police chief inspector

Thanks to jno for NOT including Harry Hewitt with his army uniform on, I have it on VERY good authority he was a poor officer. Decent potential, but a half interested lazy officer. Like father like son, eh? I heard something similar from a Captain I knew that served with him.. He said he was a toss pot! Prince Andrew beats Harry Hewitt hands down with his military career. I will post some priceless anecdotes later....ALL true!

To me, it's Major James 'the cad' Hewitt. Brought utter disgrace on his regiment, which, in the army, is worse than kicking the Peoples Princess's back doors in. Which I'm sure he did, the filthy swine! Jealous? Me? Grrrrrr

I stayed at the Premier Inn next in Manchester recently and discovered their purple sauce. Fair play, this was superb.
I saw this advertised in the Premier this morning.. What's it taste of? I've never seen a bottle of it yet! Similar to BlackBerry ketchup. Best way I can describe it.
