When I was a kid Timothy Dalton was Bond and looking back I wish he had done a couple more Bond films before Pierce Brosnan took over. I'm not a huge fan of the Pierce Brosnan films with their completely unrealistic stunts. I enjoy both the Sean Connery and Roger Moore Bond films but my favourite Bond is Daniel Craig because I prefer his more serious, tougher Bond and the realism he has brought to the role. He's revitalised the Bond franchise for me and I'm really looking forward to Spectre.

This one has just been suggested by: magnumpiA change to the regular schedule this week. With SPECTRE coming out, it's time to decide ...
No fence sitting this one, one chance and one chance only. Oh, and let's not forget him... and let's DO forget him ...

Connery in Dr No IS Bond, but I love Live and Let Die best, so it's a tie. However, Moore is a gent whereas Connery ids a tosser, so it's Moore for me.

Lazenby- none of the others could've done that final scene like he did.

My favourite Bond is Dalton. Although Craig is doing really well as Bond so far, he just doesn't capture both the charming side and dark side of Bond as Dalton did, IMO. Both of Dalton's JB films are also well written.

You forget that Ian Fleming's James Bond was radically different than the Bond of the films. The Bond in the books isn't always comfortable with killing, he's had to deal with the losses of both Vesper Lynd and his wife Tracy. If you look at Bond at the start of the You Only Live Twice book, he's drinking heavy, coming in late to the office...I don't know, some of the Bond films could have been much better if they perhaps focused more on those aspects of his character.

Roger Moore for me. I think he carries off the quintessential English gent. part of the role perfectly, keeping his cool in times of peril and spouting cheesey one liners with ease. He's also more convincing as the intelligent, experienced, wordly wise traveller than any of the others imo.

Dalton would've come close to doing the final scene as well as Lazenby. A shame he didn't get the chance to do a few more.

I'm not a Bond fan in general, but I've seen all the Moore ones. He was always pretty funny and light hearted.

I honestly like all the Bond films and the actors who play them, they bring their own distinct style to the films, but for me I have to go with Daniel Craig, as I think he is more in line with the Bond you read in the books rather than the film version of Bond. I also think hte DC films have put new life into a dying franchise.
Looking forward to seeing Spectre.

Roger Moore running away with it, I honestly wasn't expecting that.

Yeah, this is almost bad as the fact that Blofeld in Diamonds are Forever was played by the Criminologist from the Rocky Horror Picture Show...

My favourite quote from Roger Moore as Bond is in For Your Eyes Only: "He had no head for heights". That was probably his best film, too: he was apparently ambivalent about shooting the scene in which he kicks the car off the cliff, but I'm glad he shot it nonetheless.

You know, jno, I always thought Peter Sellers would've made a fine James Bond. I think he could have been menacing when he wanted to - it's a shame his only outing as Bond was the (admittedly rather amusing) Casino Royale spoof, but he fit the physical description of Bond in the books, had quite a few lovers including Princess Margaret, and had his own demons.

Interesting to mention Peter Sellers as Bond. I always thought Stanley Baker would have been interesting. He had a tough, hard-boiled, working class quality to him like Sean Connery even though Bond was more upper middle class. If Baker had been 007, I reckon the films would have stuck more closely to the novels but he probably would have given up after maybe 2 or 3 films. Worth noting that he starred in his own spy film Innocent Bystanders written by James Mitchell (Callan).

I still haven't voted yet. I think this weeks death match is a tough shout. 'Who is the best James Bond on film'??
Not 'Whose film's are the best'?
Erm... Let's be honest here, it was always gonna be between Rog & Sean. I think the best Bond was probably Dalton or Lazenby though.
.... I went Dalton in the end.

Arch Stanton can. He is a big name in the St Day criminal underworld stroking his cat while formulating cunning plans.
