Tim Loane had planned an episode for series 2 that saw the return of Arthur. Although I doubt if they would have been able to convince George Cole to reprise his role to be honest.

Not sure what programme it is but back then in the UK there were only 3 channels and only educational shows were on until lunch time. Well, on week days.

Seeing as the registration changed during the first series (sometimes in the same episode) I'd say yes

Petra is supposed to be Dave's daughter.

Something that really annoys me with this series is the cheesy background music. I really wish I could edit it out and add the deleted scenes from the DVD release.

There was, but the last issue was published in 1905.

I'm pretty sure that Patrick Mower also writes & directs (for stage) so that might be what he was up to during those years. As well as being a cad

I dunno, I watched this one again recently and I think that there's a few good lines in it. I like the way that Brian clears out the Winchester quicker than Dave's lasagne and we learn that Arthur can't con honest people plus Dave wearing the toupee raises a smile but it doesn't wrap up well and leaves you feeling depressed.

The scene where Arthur does the deal with the ticket tout whilst touting himself is comic gold! I totally agree, a truly great scene played so well by George Cole.

I love The Winchester in series 1, it is raw, full of dodgy locals and has a hustle bustle busyness about it which is not seen in later series so much. I would love to find out more about the Eton club that was used as the Winchester in series 1 (apart from in this episode funnily enough) like when it shut down etc.

Tony Hoare said that he didn't write it as a final episode but I reckon that Euston knew that it was the last one (I'm pretty sure that it was announced that the series was coming to an end whilst they were filming the 100th episode). Maybe the ending of the episode was altered at some point?

Hard to say. Tony Hoare said that he based the character on Mad Frankie Fraser but I think that had more to do with the name rather than his personality. The actor playing the part (Matthew Scurfield) done a good job but we don't actually see him fight. I reckon Terry would have had him

I enjoyed most of series 10, for me 'All Quiet On The West End Front' was probably the highlight of the series. I really wish we had got those 3 specials that were originally planned.

I do think that Bradley Walsh would have been my choice out of the two actors (I always thought that Timothy Spall would have been great) but what really let it down was the scripts were just not strong enough in my opinion.
The first & last episodes were the best out of the bunch.

I'm not sure to be honest. It's not exactly got a Christmas feel to it at all but it's a few minutes longer than most of the other episodes from what I can remember.

This was reported in the press last week, thought deserved a mention here... Michael Leader, best known for being the clumsy Stormtrooper who hit his head in Starwars & playing the milkman on Eastenders has died. Michael also appeared in Minder, more so in the Ray Daley years but I'm pretty sure he was in Minder On The Orient Express too. RIP.

To answer your other question about how it done in the ratings, sadly it was put up against a Christmas special of Only Fools & Horses on BBC1 which ratings wise came out on top. We watched Minder in our house
