Yes, where the 3 programmes sometimes can cross over. Like wise “Messenger Of The God’s “ could so easily have been an episode of Minder

I gave it 4/5 by the way, I nearly went for a 3/5 - but decided to be on the more generous side. Great cast and storyline, leading up to think that it is the end of Minder, with Arthur selling up. Just a bit weak in places. Rycott saying to Jones - you love yourself, if you were a chocolate I reckon you would eat yourself! Absolutely hilarious

I didn’t realise I hadn’t voted on this one. So remember watch8ng this - first time around in early 1989. It would be well over 2 years until it returned, with the Ray era... I gave it a go back in 1991, remember recording it on the video, as I was worried I’d miss some of it getting back late from rugby trainI Got! It didn’t stay recorded for long..... I tried a few more episodes of series 8, but it wasn’t meant to be for me....

Also noticed the location of the overbridge at Willesden Junction where Maltese did the money drop... A regular haunt of mine in my youth as a rail mad enthusiast being next door to British Rail Willesden depot.... You can even see an early BR AL class locomotive in the background... But perhaps too much detail... Pmsl Not at all, you can never have too much detail, the more the better - great stuff Indeed - totally agree.

He was only with us for one season - but what a season. Never struck me as a player who would be vying with Rush or Dalglish for a starting position but absolutely gave his all every time he played and scored some important goals. After he moved to Spain he knew he wasn’t going to be able to play for the final season of his contract because of injury and refused to take his wages, something you’re unlikely to see these days. RIP. I always remember his Panini sticker from his season at Liverpool. No idea why. The Spanish people fairly took him to their hearts going by the tributes paid to him. RIP So do I, I think it is because he was a fringe player, amongst that colossus of talent at the time!... RIP Mike, good player, and nice guy.

Lost two great musicians this week, The Stranglers really are the pick of the UK Punk / new wave bands. They offered more than any of the others, they are not held up in such high regard as Sex Pistols and The Clash, but are that bit better. Only the Rockpile Collective Of Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds & Elvis Costello challenged them for superiority RIP Dave, a real unique talent. as commented - the two singles from 1982 of Golden Brown & The even better (IMO) Strange Little Girl (which was actually first penned in 1974) showed that.

RIP, shared the same Birthday as me, always remember that for some reason. . The music is just phenomenal, as mentioned - particularly between 1975 & 1981, so obviously influential - it’s incredible. I bought The Model / Computer Love as a near 11 year old from HMV Exeter on a day trip there, and still remember coming home and playing it to death on my parents record player with Barry The Book!

when you take the foot off the brake,it holds comfortably until you pull away The van I drive for work has this and I find it a Godsend. Whenever you come to a complete standstill and then keep your foot on the brake, they wont release for 1.5 seconds after you've let go of the pedal. Exactly mate, a god send - especially in the stop start driving we encounter these days!

Didn't much care for the automatics on first drive, they seemed to wallow at low speed and with the car being slow to respond to the accelerator. The hybrid is a vile beast that's even more tardy and has a bizarre "parking brake" where the clutch would be in a normal car that was so reluctant to release,I had to resort to kicking it. Anyway, having tried an automatic it's manual all the way for me I think. Your first point about being slow to respond and wallowing at low speed is what I was talking about in one of my previous posts about autos being better suited to a larger engine ltd, when you put your foot down you need a response. The parking break in the clutch pedal position is something Mercedes have done for years and I really don't see the point. I have driven them in the past and with the early ones, I couldn't see how you could release the handbrake gradually when making a hill start. Those early ones fitted to the Mercs were either on or off - no middle ground. I never understood why Merc used that system for so long. I have had a couple of cars with electric handbrakes- but other than “Hill hold” on the latter one, seen no advantage, my auto has a brief hold anyway, so when you take the foot off the brake,it holds comfortably until you pull away, although I put it in P if in a long standstill.

Further to my post back in 2017, I have owned an auto (DSG) VW Golf, since tha start of the year, and would be very reluctant to go back to a manual now... 7 speeds, seamless gear changes, so relaxing and, as opposed to years ago - quicker off the mark and through the gears than a manual. Depending on the engine, up to half a second quicker from 0-60 mph

The only hat I have is a cap, a bit like the one Lennon wore in the mid 60’s. I nearly bought a cap the other day, it was a kind of hybrid of a Stetson and a conventional flat cap. I passed on it in the end, as I was on my own and felt I required a “2nd opinion” if I ever lose my hair, I will revisit!......

Brilliant Arch! Even though I don’t agree on Hugh, although I can understand why people find home annoying. He went from shooting every bird out of the sky, to campaigning for plastic use. He’s a bit woolly.......
I would love to chin that James Martin one, annoying prat. As for Rick Stein, don’t get me started on the annoying Padstownian,.... Paul Hollywood makes the 3rd vote, he thinks he is a celebrity chef just because he baked a bit of bread!

Sad news, he never quite fully hit the big time over here with Arsenal, like he was expected to - but was still a great player, more successful in his home country. I didn’t realise it was a fast crash, regardless - very sad & gone too soon. R.I.P

Why do cars have cigarette lighters & cupholders then? I always drive to work in my automatic car early in the morning, occasionally sipping on a coffee, I don’t see a problem with that either - obviously in the correct conditions

I will have a pint of normal strength lager - possibly one & a half and drive, with no doubt & have done for as long as I have driven (30 + years) I was pulled for speeding once, I only got a warning, the very fair policeman asked if I had a drink - I replied no, then remembered I’d had a bottle of Perroni earlier in the evening & told him, he gave me a breathalyser - but there was a zero reading, he admired my honesty, and I asked him if he suspected I’d had a drink, and he honestly replied - no. He shook my hand and that was that.
