A lot to like about the episode. Would be interesting to hear why it wasn't repeated for nearly 20 years and the scratchy picture quality. Good story with plenty of strands. Terry at the wine tasting was very good. The dodgy massage service and Arthur's "migraine" outside the sex shop was pure class.
A third brief, and uncredited, appearance by Patrick Malahide as Chisholm. It would be interesting to know what the plan was with Chisholm at this point. Was it thought of to increase his role to what it became?

Just seen it announced on the news. Another great actor.

Another great episode. Outstanding performances from all concerned. Dennis and George are obviouslyy enjoying it so much. The scene with Arthur running off with the ball should be one of those iconic TV moments like Del Boy and the bar hatch. Was it improvised? Well the lads are close to him on the first scene, then when it cuts back, he seems to have put some distance from them, so either Arthur had a quick burst of speed or there was more than one take. Only gripe is whether a Yorkshireman would drink lager. He'd be much more of a bitter man.

Mondays are great if it's the first day of a week off work.
I like Sundays, roast dinner, football etc.

Must add my voice to those who don't like the ending, even though the rest of the episode is very good. I'd have liked Peter to have been Terry's son, even if he was never mentioned again in Minder. It was very cruel of Beryl to lie to Terry, knowing that he's a good bloke. As ever, great interplay between Terry and Arthur, who I think was quite jealous of Peter.

Decent episode. Paul Barber is very convincing as the arrogant boxer, a mix of Ali and John Conteh. Good Terry fight sequences at the disco (dodgy dancing though) and at Willie's apartment.

His IMDB entry shows an impressive body of work and I see he was one of a handful to appear in the Professionals and The New Professionals.

Interesting that he says Euston wanted to finish Minder after series 6. I'd have thought George and Dennis were the ones who wanted to move on.

I think the episode is ok but not earth shattering to be honest. Great performances from all concerned and special mention to Beth Morris, who did look lovely.

The Queen song seems too simplistic to me and is not really a very good song by their standards - it's almost as if they knocked it out in half an hour. I've always thought this too. It just doesn't have anything about it. Don't know if you'd class it as Christmas but I quite like A Winter's Tale from the posthumous Made In Heaven album.

I recalled her playing Kate Regan. Excellent actress she was too.

Outstanding episode. Great comic timing by all concerned. I'm sure the liberals hate this episode but there are so many laughs to be had, particularly when John Forgeham pleads with Terry not to damage his hair transplant. Janet Key looks good in this episode (lucky Terry!) Superb subplot with Arthur's dodgy watches. One minor quibble is that 'Jolly Jim' was very easily taken in by Alex's wife.

Wonderful episode to start series 2. Terry and Arthur now becoming a great double act. Great comic timing from Dennis in dealing with the flatulent horse and realising he's eaten the horse food with laxatives.

I'd love to see footage of the 1970 ITV World Cup panel. Dougan, Allison, Crerand and McNabb.

During a period of ill health in 1996, I watched daily showings of Hi De Hi and thought it was quite good, especially the early series with Simon Cadell but Dad's Army is a great legacy. Did everyone know he wanted to play Pte Walker but wasn't allowed in case he gave himself the best lines.

Anything else you remember about Arthur & Terry on the Telethon Zimbo, this might help me sleuth it down. Only that it was shown during the afternoon, possibly on the Monday.

Perfect episode to conclude series 1. A darker episode and an unusual use of incidental music. Terry coming across very heroic here. The 'extra' is obviously spooked by the dog barking. Very surprising to see the people looking on when Terry and Arthur leave the police station. That's the type of thing Crossroads would get crucified for. As the ratings weren't great, it's scary to think that this could have been the last we saw of Minder. Thank goodness for Brian Cowgill (I think)

I have zero recollection of this Telethon. Don't tell me who the presenter was. I guess Tidy Beard. Michael Aspel. ITV did 3 over the whit bank holidays of 1988, 1990 and 1992.

I remember Dennis and George filmed a segment for the 1988 telethon (they'd have been filming series 7) One to hunt down now... Probably was only a couple of minutes. I remember them being in Arthur's lock up and Terry saying he was going to watch the telethon.

I watched some of the 1970s episodes on Granada minus and it was obvious that Jean was the best actor on the show by a long chalk.

Very sad to hear about Buster's problems. I voted for Walking In The Sunshine. I hadn't heard it before seeing it on BBC4 TOTP. Good video too. As someone said earlier, Madness were thought of as a novelty act but for me are one of the strongest musical acts.

Very good episode. Again, Arthur portrayed as being more attracted to ladies than he was later on. Then again, Diane Keen looked very lovely in this episode.

Agree with Flying Squad. Nobody's Diary is their best song. Don't Go and Situation would round out their top 3 for me. Moyet is a great vocalist, but who really made Yazoo work was Vince Clarke. His synth melodies were what made the songs stand out. He also played a part in Depeche Mode's first album, and went on to be the driving force of Erasure. Another band that I think its success was primarily due to Clarke. I'd say 'Nobody's Diary' is my favourite Vince Clarke song of all the acts he's been in. He was also in The Assembly with Feargal Sharkey and they reached No 4 in 1983 with 'Never Never'. I think the Assembly was due to be a project with Clarke working with different vocalists but abandoned after Never Never. Shame as it would have been interesting...

This is a very good episode and the relationship between Terry and Arthur is really developing here. They seem much more at home with each other than the previous episodes. Saeed Jaffrey is perfect as the slippery Mr. Muckerjee. I wonder what the purpose of the Norman Gibbons character is? 2 very brief appearances. Was he going to have a regular role then dropped?

An excellent episode full of tension, but yes, there really didn't seem any way out for Terry and Arthur. I did like Michael Sheard and Nadim Sawalha as the quietly menacing villains.

There was a Q&A with Rula Lenska in the Mail On Sunday magazine yesterday, where she revealed that she had a nickname of 'Sandy' which may explain a bit about the in joke of that policewoman lookalike at the end of the episode.
