This came as very sad news , as I absolutely loved Starsky & Hutch as a kid , as I mentioned when I reviewed the show. David Soul s transformation from actor to pop star worked very well . I can never forget the scene in the title sequence , where he leaps off the wall & lands on his backside on the car roof . R.I.P David SOUL

R.I.P Mike Redfern . I also remember him having two roles in George & Mildred . He was the dodgy car dealer that George bought the old caravan off , that ended up being towed to the scrap yard . In a later episode , when pregnant neighbour , Ann Fourmile is being rushed to hospital by husband Jeffery , he is the motorcycle cop that pulls them over for speeding .

I voted for Jackie Wright as I loved him in Benny Hill. Only joking I meant the Melissa Wilks character who I thought was very nice watching the show as a young fellow in the 80s. She also played one of the young kids in The Professionals episode " You ll Be Alright " .

I have just read the sad news , of the passing of our favourite Cornish comedian , Jethro , real name Geoffrey Rowe , to Covid 19 . He passed away yesterday aged 73 .
I remember first seeing him when I was on holiday with my parents in Cornwall , in the mid 70s . We were staying at Seaview Holiday Village , between Polperro & Looe & he was the evening entertainment . Everyone thought he was hilarious . This was of course before he appeared on tv . Apparently , he first appeared on The Des O Connor Show in 1990 . When we saw him , I can remember he was driving a blue MK2 Jaguar , 67VRL ( a good old Cornish registration !! )
R.I.P Jethro

More sad news , of the passing of another great entertainer .
One of his finest moments , was the stitch up on Noel s House Party . Lionel was appearing in a theatre performance & Noel was in disguise in the audience as a heckler & kept standing up & asking stupid questions . Lionel handled the situation so well & put him right in his place .
R.I.P Lionel .

This is very sad news . I have been getting messages all day from friends , asking whether I knew he had passed away , as I was always known for my impressions of him .
I met John Challis at a Classic Car Show , at Bath & West Showground , a couple of years ago & had a long chat with him . He was a really nice , down to earth guy .

Maybe it's my old eyesight as well but the lorry that drops Mickey off appears to be displaying trade plates. Would that be something to do with insurance as it would mean the lorry could be driven on the public road possibly by a member of the crew? I reckon it's a genuine lorry being delivered (on trade plates as you say) from manufacturer/dealer to customer and the driver was offered a few quid adhoc to take a small part in the episode. It's not like we even see the driver, let alone him have a speaking role so I don't think any special hiring arrangements etc would have been made. I reckon the driver was approached at a nearby transport café or filling station and asked if he'd be interested in a few quid for the small role. Quite often , back then , commercial vehicles that appeared in tv shows , were un registered company demos , with of course the exception of the Transcontinentals , supplied by Ford . The one here , in the episode , by the shape of the cab & style of rear lamps , is a Bedford TL , but as you say , it looks like it is in the process of being delivered . Another prime example of this , is the infamous " I like Trucking " sketch from Not the Nine O Clock News , where we see Rowan Atkinson driving a Leyland Constructor tipper . It is seen on Hertfordshire issued trade plates , as it replaced the old Scammell Routeman and was built in the same factory at Watford . This was clearly a demonstrater , right down to the tarpaulin displaying the Leyland " plughole " logo .

My fondest & earliest memories of Murray Walker , was his commentating on Saturday afternoon rallycross on World of Sport in the 70s . As soon as Dickie Davis , said " We now return to Lydden Hill & join Murray Walker " , you could expect an afternoon of fun . I always used to find it hilarious , when he mis pronounced the names of many of the Scandinavian drivers . Bjorn Waldegaard , had many variations .!! RIP MURRAY .
