Maybe the cause of pub violence up here. Still a few places love a battle with their bevvy. Never seen Scotch eggs up here either. What!! But you’re from Scotland. What’s the point of going there if not to pick fresh scotch eggs, straight from the Sauschick Tree? If scotch eggs aren’t harvested in Scotland where are they harvested then? I think you’re having me on now. We chopped down the egg trees and replaced them with the battered mars bar tree instead. Better for the environment I believe.

Never seen pork scratchings in a pub up my way. Scotch pies used to be popular up here in pubs. I wonder if this could be the causation of all the arrested development up there Daz? It’s not scratchings but I suppose I could slum it and stretch to a Scotch Pie if I had to. Surely they serve Scotch Eggs as a substitute as well? Maybe the cause of pub violence up here. Still a few places love a battle with their bevvy. Never seen Scotch eggs up here either.

I like boats and to travel on boats, but would never do a cruise.
In Aberdeen, they have just built a new harbour at the waterside where I was brought up. This is to accommodate supply ships, but also allow these huge ferries to rock up with tourists, usually from Germany.
Because of this, a much beloved part of our coastline is now out of bounds for us plebs.
The first things tourists see on coming to this new Aberdeen port is a sewarage plant, followed by a huge incinerator.

Shaft has died aged 81.
Even if he only ever did Shaft and did no more work after, we would still be talking about the role. Well, maybe not on this particular forum, but what a performance it was.

When you read his autobiography, he speaks very openly on his love and devotion to her.

Shame to read of this when it broke, but a good innings.
You often catch him on Talking Pictures, in early film roles. One of my favourites of his is Violent Playground.
Sapphire and Steel is what I remember him best from, but was certainly a face that popped up in unexpected TV shows over the years.
Amazing to think that for all his credits on television, he never appeared in The Holy Trinity.

Never knew this.
That's Living Alright and Breaking Away are two class songs that just worked so well in a classic TV series.
Also sang the theme tune to the comedy, As Time Goes By.

You can still hurl abuse at players, just not be too big a dick about it
There is a guy sits behind us at Pittodrie and every game he throws out one or two lines at players which just crack everyone up. I've even seen some players, who are the victims of the abuse, look up and laugh.

I only picked 3 - so far. Too much money, FIFA etc & travel hassle. I rarely watch PL and watch Argyle as much as possible. I am hoping, despite not being a season ticket holder and the relatively short distance, that getting to games with major A30 work and train strikes doesn’t make it too much hassle, adding to hoping get tickets now they have gone up to the 2nd tier . Ticket prices are still well priced really, despite going up for the standard of football. Pretty much the same for me Chopper. Up here, football hasn't changed much in that it hasn't been overly commercialised. I have little knowledge of the EPL and Champions League and Internationals are just shyte and have no interest. Even more so since the international break became a thing and spoiling the flow of the proper game. It is relatively cheap to follow, compared to over the border and the players are fairly accessable. You can easily find them doing their shopping in local shops, which kids love. We also have a healthy support base and not a lot of plastic fans. The two things I would change is dump the Glasgow bigot brothers and their fans, (preferably at the bottom of the Atlantic) and VAR. I hate both with a passion.

Managed Aberdeen for a couple of seasons when we were really toiling both on and off the pitch.
Didn't do anything of note for us, and I actually stopped going due to him as his comments on our games to the press and what I was watching were two different things, but I get it now. He did put down good foundations for Derek McInnes to work with when he took over and was on the board of Aberdeen until his death.
Supposedly a really good guy, who went out of his way to help fans in all sorts of ways and his stories really should be made available to a wider audience.
Loved the opposite sex and was always sniffing around ladies much younger than himself, until right near the end.
He used to be portrayed as a doddery old man when he was Scotland manager, but was anything but.
RIP Paw Broon

I used to really like Three Up, Two Down. I had actually been googling her just last week wondering if she was still around. I had read something about Michael Elphick and Three Up, was mentioned and as you do, you go straight to IMDB. I also like 'Three Up, Two Down' Playback released series 1 & 2 on DVD but there has been no release of series 3 & 4. It has had the odd repeat from time to time, I'm sure the BBC repeated it in the afternoons about 10 years ago. It also stars Ray Burdis and Lysette Anthony. Although I liked the programme, I am sure the appearance of a young and very pretty Lynette Anthony would have been part of the attraction. Hopefully it might turn up on BBC4 or the iPlayer soon, with the passing of Angela Thorn.

I was stood next to him at a match at Pittodrie around about 1990, he was doing presenting up here.
He was a big loon.
He was doing Sky one day when Man U were playing West Brom and Rooney put his hands on his hips, when he had the ball, to take the p out of the West Brom defender Darren Moore. I always remember Gordon was raging at this and said if Rooney had tried it with him they would be picking him up out of the top of the stand.
You knew he would have and could have too.

Been watching Minder from the start again and onto series seven, which is a series I haven't watched much.
Have to agree with what has been said already about this episode and a shout out about Ronald Fraser and how good he was as Sid.
A total contrast to the character of his previous role in the series.
However, I don't like what they did with Rycott in this series.
Chisholm has gone and if being honest, his character did become a little silly and feel they have tried to make Rycott into the same type of laughing stock character as Chisholm was
I always felt the Rycott character was more darker than Chisholm and should have left him like that.

If you follow football in Scotland, but don't follow a certain zombie club from Glasgow who play in blue, you really detest her song 'The Best'.
She had some voice on her, but her music from the 80s onwards really wasn't my thing. I would switch her off if played on the radio.
Fair play to her though for making such a name for herself for a second time after everything she had been through.

Morrissey had the clever lyrics and Marr provided the guitar licks, but it was the rhythm of Rourke and Joyce that propelled the songs to greatness.

Only discovered this yesterday. I had known he had cancer, but hadn't realised it was so advanced.
YMO were one of the real groundbreaking electronic acts, who I think are overlooked by many, which I think is partly due the the underlying oriental sound their music has.
To me, their music still holds up well today.
He was still doing interesting work right to the end though.

I saw him in the stage version of cell block H back in the 90s and despite never being a fan of the show or drag acts in general, he was very, very funny.
He had that acid tounge that certain camp comedians can use well and used it to great effect with hecklers.
Just came across as a one of the good guys and didn't forget where he came from.
As mentioned above, his autobiographal series of books are very good.

That is a shame and only 54.
I loved Harvey Moon as a kid and enjoyed it again a couple of years ago upon rewatching.
He popped up in loads of things, but never usually big roles.
I always remember him as well from the video of the Flowered Up single 'Weekender'. Which was unique as it was around 20 minutes long and done as a short film, very different from the usual music video.
Possibly one of the best singles of the 90s too, if a little forgotten.

Not a huge fan, but undoubtedly a very influential band from the punk/ new wave era who were a bit difficult to categorise musically, which I think is a great thing.
Hard to believe in an industry where artists are now mainly controlled by PR from the off, the he broke through with the Stranglers when nearly 40 years of age.
What a time to have been alive and to have been of age to have enjoyed it.

Was a real shame to read that one, but he has been ill for a number of years now.
His best role for me was as Danny McGlone in the excellent Tutti Frutti, but he was always good in whatever he appeared in from major roles to cameos.

Grange Hill was a huge part of the children's TV landscape for those of us of a certain vintage, whose characters have became part of our lives for a number of years with lots of them held in great affection years afterwards.
Mrs McCluskey was certainly one of them and was sad news to read of her passing.
A lot of her ex Grange Hill pupils took to Twitter to write some lovely heartfelt tributes to her.
RIP Gwyneth

Just come across this, very sad news. As posted in the Hazell thread, I found him excellent as Cousin Tel and was a good sidekick for the Hazell character and brought a lot to the episodes he appeared in.
