Terrence Hardiman, who will always be best known by many people, for playing the lead role in the 1990's Children's Drama series The Demon Headmaster, sadly died yesterday, aged 86. Terrence Hardiman, also appeared in many other TV programmes, including Softly Softly: Task Force, Crown Court, Secret Army (series 3), Skorpion, Inspector Morse, Wish Me Luck (Series 3), Minder (The Last Temptation of Daley), Jonathan Creek and Doctor Who. www.BBC.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-65530652

Always remember him as Rhinehart in Secret Army, stitched up by Kessler at the end. Telegraph obit mentions he did a lot of voluntary work, recording audio books for blind people. Seems to have been a jolly good chap all round.

An excellent actor - not that I was part of the Demon Headmaster generation (arrived a bit too late for me). Really sad to read of his death earlier today. RIP.

Achieved late fame into his career as The demon headmaster, which is probably where I first heard of him but had a good career before that and as mentioned above recognisable and memorable roles in some great productions.RIP

It mentions his role in Skorpion which I remember really enjoying when it was on. Quite surprising to see him as one of the good guys for a change. Not much chance of a repeat after all these years, but I wonder if it'd be ripe for a Notwork release - think it's part of a wider series with an ensemble cast?

Skorpion, was a sequel (of sorts) to the 1981 series Blood Money, Michael Denison, Daniel Hill and Jack McKenzie, played the same parts, in both series's, also appearing in Blood Money, were Bernard Hepton and Juliet Hammond-Hill, Michael Denison, played the same character (Captain Aubrey Percival), in another series - Cold Warrior (1984), which also starred Dean Harris, who reprised his role (Danny Quirk) from Blood Money.

Sounds like the whole thing would make a nice boxed set.

Very sad. I always remember him particularly from Secret Army. He played a great part in that series.

Just finished watching the last film in the Circles of Deceit series and he turns up in that as an army general giving the Controller a hard time at a committee meeting. His saturnine looks remind me a bit of Vincent Price, I can see why he was such good casting as the Demon Headmaster.

Very good in Secret Army.
A very dependable actor who popped up in a lot of good stuff over the years.
RIP

As already stated, he turns up in Crown Court ( a series well worth catching- a certain John Alkin turns up quite a bit; dunno how Regan would view that) and is very convincing. I, for one, wouldn't want to be cross examined by him. It's always nice to know that the actors who play unsettling characters are so often in real life nice and unassuming people, and Mr Hardiman appears to fall into this category. RIP Terrence. I'm going to go on YT and remind myself how good you were.
