Yes, a great episode this, apart from the ending really - as jno said it just seems to wimper out a bit. But great stuff nevertheless – love Terry’s pull by the Inland Revenue: Tax man (Brian Haines) – “Daley…Daley…” Terry – “Who?” And in the pub afterwards is a great scene…one of my favourite Minder pub scenes…”it was going alright an’ all until they rolled your annual tax return…” Great Terry and Arthur sequence here. Arthur is on top, top form throughout this one I feel…love the scene where Alisdair tells Arthur he could be bringing him a million pounds…Arthur’s little gulp and the way he says “yeah…” so authentic - almost seemed like real life - GC himself even seemed excited about the thought And outside the hotel…the scene with Arthur and Terry is another good one I enjoy, where Arthur is mulling over the 18 grand…”And young Justine…giving me GBH of the earhole…” “So?? What’s more important – Life or Money?”

If ever you wanted to see someone who is so much better at something than someone else... then watch this...Ali vs Cleveland Williams (a respected hard hitting heavyweight)...like a Grand Master in Chess playing a novice...it only lasts 3 rounds... including 3 knock downs in Round 2! ...Ali at his prime...the shuffle, his rapier left jab..an an unstoppable force. RIP.

Enjoyable episode, but personally, I found Ozzie very annoying and hence dislikeable. Like Roddy (Windows) and Monica (Rembrandt). Very annoying/grating characters (to me). Love the scene where Arthur meets Granger in The Winch and at first didn't recognise him "It was the Mouse that put me off"

A quirky, interesting episode this for me. Some great Chisholm action...with his boss giving him a rollocking for this "obsession you have with nicking Arthur Daley" Love the scene where Chiz comes up behind the gang and plucks the cash from Arthur's hand...with Arthur immediately coming back with "They are not mine...they are Rubbish Roubles". Cracking line

Naysayer alert! It doesn't have the usual argy-bargy of the classic episodes but, for me, Beryl Reid is more than just a dusted-off actor from the 70s. Watch this episode again as a drama and not just as a 'Minder' that perhaps neglects its principal characters and you'll find a damn good hour of entertainment. Personally, I think this episode manages a good balance; it may be somewhat 'relaxed' by previous standards, but watch how Terry warms to her - he studied under Lord Olivier, you know. There's some great lines too, like the bit where Arthur's talking to Terry while watching her at the TV studio: Terry: She's talkin' about the petty criminals she used to know - obviously remembers you". ARTHUR: Tarra [hangs up]. Nah (Meh, perhaps?), this is a very good episode and, for a series like this, you need a bit of variety - and here it is. Isn't that why we love it? Yes, I know what you mean about this one. I quite like it, but it is a bit different for sure, certainly a different tempo from the ep shown before it (Scratchwood). But I can see why others may not agree, but for me, I think the positives, just outweigh the negatives (not sure this applies to the other slightly leftfield eps, Dreamhouse, Not a Bad Lad) and its one I still watch quite often. Love the way Arthur has to track down Barney and I like the scenes with him and Arthur. Also the way this ep delves a little into Arthur's past and is really about people he had clearly known for a long time...but I agree the relationship scenes between Ruby and Barney bogs this one down a bit. But Barney pulls out a cracker right at the end as Arthur waves him off into the taxi...calling Arthur a robber as he realises Arthur's charged him 5 grand for the furniture! Its a great little quip the way he says it...

He got to keep the car in T64 Interesting question though - he made a bundle in Shamy....albeit Arthur didn't really have a claim after turning down the film deal...and he got a nice cashmere jumper from Ruby in Second Time Around

Looks like Arthur wasn't the first! The Sweeney boys got there first...(having poor old Roy flat on his back in the motor)!

Yes, this one is the poorest quality ep on my Freemantle DVD set also. Probably one of my least watched eps but no reason why really...I like this one as has a bit of everything for me...and always nice to see Tel at the gym! I like the Terry's flat scenes as well, when they're opening up the first bottle Good scrap in the dodgy shop and Terry's little present for Arthur always makes me laugh! And big Billy Gresham seems one person even Terry is wary of... "And you'll like her old mum an all!" Not the most gripping episode granted, but Arthur and Terry both on good form in this one I think

Watching this one the other evening on ITV4. Near the end of the episode the two heavies go into the house to evict the young family and Terry goes in after them. One of Terry's best fights for me, looks very real...especially when he knocks the guy through the door...

And Arthur doing a runner from Sprott..."Ever seen one of these? (flashing his warrant card)" Arthur - what's that...season ticket to Fulham?" There was a similar scenario in another episode where Chisholm shows up at the Lock-up and shows Arthur a search warrant.
"I'm sure you recognise one of these Arthur?"
"What is it - credit reference?"

The one liners are one of the things that makes Minder so great. I think we all would love to think we can be as quick on our wits as Arthur. Absolutely! He is so good and natural at the quick fire witty/funny response (another one of my TV heroes Leonard Rossiter was similar imo). (that's why Chisholm is partly such a good oppo I think as he can also be very witty (and great at dry sarcasm) as well - loves dropping in the odd bit of Latin - but he delivers his one liners much slower, more thoughtful like...which contrasts well with Arthur).

Good episode this one! Love it when Arthur says to Terry outside the telephone boxes "It's alright for you...I've got to go home and change into my Inland Revenue set" "Oh and while you're in there Terry give em a clean will you...they don't half pen and ink" The image of Terry potentially sweeping them out always makes me chuckle... And Arthur doing a runner from Sprott..."Ever seen one of these? (flashing his warrant card)" Arthur - what's that...season ticket to Fulham?"

Enjoyable episode but Arthur being 'skint' is a little hard to swallow. Daffyd's darts action is horrible too! I didn't like seeing Arthur with money troubles either - didn't suit the concept of the programme at all. Fully agree BTB, I also don't like seeing Arthur on his uppers, as in some of the later Terry eps. Much prefer to see him with a few quid in his pocket, a full lock up, Terry employed on one of his scams and Arthur developing new ones

One of my favourite Terry episodes..for lots of reasons really...right from the beginning with Rycott missing the blagging ladies at the start due to a dodgy Motor...to the end "Lets have a nice cup of tea..." For me, I love Winchester scenes and this ep has loads...what with Mournful trying to off load the fur coat The dodgy motor Arthur sells Dee is hilarious too...and the way he buys it! "Look at the pudding on those seals...I'll give you 70" "Seventy???" and he pays in oners And some great Arthur action throughout ...including one of my favourite scenes..at Terry's flat when Arthur passes out for nearly being shot..."Oohh, that's water" "Yeah he's alright..." Moving Dee into Terry's flat right under his nose lol! "Anyway, you're never there, you're always at your grans" Also love when he's getting hassled to give a valuation on the stolen Tom..."sixty grand top whack" And the pub scene with Terry and Jimmy Fagg, the piano player, is great. Great script, Arthur and Terry on top form and supporting cast well on song in this one for me

I agree with all comments so far really...as jno says its a bit of a mish-mash episode...but has enjoyable moments....including a rare 'flashback' scene (Arthur remembering the flying pigs)...and Richard Griffiths is always enjoyable...not one of the best by any means perhaps, but enjoyable to watch on a Friday afternoon when you've knocked off early from work (has that kind of 'carefree' feel to me for some reason)

Incidentally this was the second time Gout was mentioned in Minder...a cyber-Pint for the first to answer when! Clue needed, I'm struggling to think of this and have been racking my brains - something tells me series 1-3 somewhere but could be wrong. "Mr West has gout, very painful..." "Oohh...an intemperate man is he?"

..did wonders for my gout! Great line! Incidentally this was the second time Gout was mentioned in Minder...a cyber-Pint for the first to answer when! A good ep for me...loved 90% of it: Arthur - "Have the Russians invaded? Are we all to be put in a chain gang digging the M25??" Arthur - Dead?? well, that's no excuse, he should have dealt with this first..." As jno said, some brilliant Arthurisms in this one!

One of the best 'ranters' on TV ever and indeed, imo, a great actor. Look at some of the early Alf eps - 10-15 minutes continuous dialogue...shouting, arguing, screaming, pauses...all taken in a single shot...not like today - 2 mins of dialogue, then 'cut!'. Early Alf was a true master of dialogue.

Yes agree jno, a top Ray ep Love it when Arthur realises the cheque has bounced Only thing is in this ep...personally I really don't like the coppers on Arthurs tail in this one. But apart from that, the pace, script, build up etc is excellent.

Although I've seen this ep a few times now, it's only clicked the last few ep cos I laugh every time I see it near end - Dave's razzing up the canal never to be seen again in this ep and the copper says here's Donald Campbell or something - has me in stitches does any one know were he ends up? This has always puzzled me a bit...would have been good to see Dave turn up at the end when Arthur ditches the boat...and then maybe Arthur insisting Dave follows the slow old barge home just in case they break down Arthur in the warm old bunkhouse...and poor old Dave trundling along in the cold behind

Yes, top ep all the way Right to the end with Arthur trying to switch the TV on and disguising his attempt as trying to waft the smoke from his cigar away to his face right at the end when Terry says "What is this Dom Perignon anyway?" The Job Centre scene is top Minder...along with other iconic Minder scenes like on the train to Brighton etc
