Just reported The Greatest has passed on. Absolutely the finest sportsman who walked this earth. A man of dignity, integrity, class and decency who's like we will never see again. RIP champ.

He didn't go to jail. He was stripped of his title and banned from boxing. He was convicted as a draft dodger, but didn't go to jail. Rumble in the jungle was 1974, Sweeney started in 1975. C'mon Chris.

Hated boxing. Always have done. Nevertheless, the shear presence of the Ali will never be matched.

One of my abiding memories is when he appeared on Jim'll Fix It, when he pulled faces at Jimmy behind his back. I think he 'knew'

A fine man and a legend in the truest sense. The world is a poorer place today.

He was the true meaning of the word "Legend". A sporting hero of mine for decades. A great loss.

Boxing was never my cup of tea....and so wasnt MA. OK, always sad, if someone dies, but in this case its just one of many, I'm afraid.

My dad was a big Ali fan, even used to do his stance as an homage. BTW here is the classic fight that inspired a certain Mr. Stallone to write Rocky.

Ali is.

Another non-boxing fan but this guy was arguably the finest all round sportsman ever. In an era before social media he exploited every opportunity and used the press like no other.

If ever you wanted to see someone who is so much better at something than someone else... then watch this...Ali vs Cleveland Williams (a respected hard hitting heavyweight)...like a Grand Master in Chess playing a novice...it only lasts 3 rounds... including 3 knock downs in Round 2! ...Ali at his prime...the shuffle, his rapier left jab..an an unstoppable force. RIP.
