Renu Setna seemed to be one of those stock Indian actors that appeared in just about everything at the time , similar to Ed Bishop as the stock American He's still acting today. He played 3 different characters in It Ain't Half Hot Mum.

Not a fan of the old "egg chasing" but I'm aware of what an achievement that 1995 World Cup win was. MND is a very cruel disease. He must have been brave fighting that.

This is a superb episode and an absolute masterclass in acting from George Cole. Great to see another appearance by Rycott. I very much like the character. Nice cameo by Russell Hunter playing a thinly disguised Lonely (as he did when playing Popeye in The Sweeney). There is a slight waste in having Barry Stanton as the hotel owner. He surely deserved a better role in Minder. I fully agree with the comments about the classic punch up on the bus. Terrific stuff. Great end to the series. I bet viewers didn't know they'd have to wait twenty months before the next new episode.

Another nomination for part 2 is Alan Sugar. What an ironic name for one of the most sour people ever. According to what I've heard he is as odious a person as you can imagine.

I like both double acts. I think the Ronnies were a little more inventive. M&W did rehash a fair bit of their material in the days before people had video recorders.
I add my voice to those who weren't fans of Tommy Cooper. Not the nicest of people by all accounts either.

I think Noel Gallagher goes a bit too far in his criticism of other artists. It becomes a bit too nasty, such as his criticism of Collins.

Radio 2 were already doing a tribute show for him tonight. I didn't listen to him but he must have been an excellent broadcaster to be doing it for so long.

Why is Phill Collins so disliked? Not just here but in general- never figured that one out In general, his popularity took a big hit when it was reported that he was divorcing his wife by fax around 1993-94. I don't dislike him. I think Genesis have done some decent songs but I'm not keen on his solo stuff.

I didn't watch Gavin and Stacy. I thought it was crass to call the families Westband Shipman, but I'm sure Ruth Jones was the talented one of the writing partnership.

Yes, got that and The Hollies one, both excellent documentaries.
We're lucky that the Small Faces Colour Me Pop still exists. I think a lot of the others were wiped.

Phillip Schofield another one for part 2. He's one of these who thinks his opinion matters because he has lots of followers on social media. Piers Morgan the same and Gary Lineker too.

We'll have to gather these names together for the sequel.
I never watch Knowles so he's not on my radar, but I heard him on radio 4 recently and I can see him annoying people.

I didn't pick Morgan but he does annoy me by how he thinks he's some really big star and likes to namedrop all his Hollywood "friends".
I understand the dislike for Lemmon too. As jno says he is all that's wrong with British TV nowadays, likewise Gemma Collins and all those who are in reality TV.

My five. Brand, ultimate champagne socialist and what happened with Andrew Sachs.
Cowell. No talent but rules who has or hasn't. Ruins the music business with his annual freak show.
Cordon. Very self satisfied. His success baffles me. I don't see any talent whatsoever.
Hucknall. Also arrogant, producing the blandest Muzak ever and seemingly with a permanent chip on his shoulder. Goes on Twitter blocking sprees (including me ha! ha!)
Williams. The fat dancer from Stoke has gone a long way with a lack of talent and a startling amount of arrogance.
Poor Davina. I can understand people finding her annoying but she's got cracking legs!

Woke up to the new this morning. John was an amazing actor with such a distinctive voice. Obviously The Naked Civil Servant, The Elphant Man and Champion are among the best known of his work. I hope the TV companies do a good job of doing tributes to him. www.theguardian.com/film/2017/jan/28/john-hurt-obituaryRIP

It always puzzles me about that gap. It's a very long time without any TV work for someone who'd been so prolific. That's made me think that we should start a thread on actors who just disappeared, such as Stanley Meadows who has no credits after his Minder appearance. He was only in his mid 50s very early to retire from acting.

I think Glynn Edwards only appeared in one scene right at the end and I'm sure it did get shown. I remember thinking how good it was too. ITV should have shown a best of Minder that summer (or the next) just to keep the series in people's conscience. Dave and the winchester appear miday in the episode, as the radio in the winchester broadcasts news of the hold up, which dave then tells Arthur about, alerting Arthur to terrys whereabouts Despite starting a rerun last summer, (up to 'In') I missed out Gunfight... as I thought I knew it too well. Guess I need to slot it in somewhere.

This is an all time classic! The episode is so good that I didn't mind Terry and Arthur being apart for most of the episode. The character of Soames here worked very well. I think that when he called Chisholm "Alfred", Chisholm's face told us he got it wrong, although I don't think it was until Around The Corner that it was revealed to be Albert, though I could be wrong. Soames might have worked well in a Rycott episode too. Patrick Malahide was superb throughout, especially when he had a mini breakdown about being paranoid when he was with Jones. Sad that it was the final appearance of Diana Malin as Debbie but what a great episode to go out in. The weather at the end with the punch up tells us this was filmed in the summer.

Which reminds me, does anyone know why George Layton left? There was obviously still room for a mechanic character, hence Arnie, Did George Layton not start to concentrate much more as a writer rather than actor? Possibly, as Don't Wait Up started in 1983.

Some very good fight scenes in this one During the fight on the jetty at the end of the episode, Des is lying on the floor whilst Archie Simpson is trying to hit him with the long handled hook/pike thing. Hargreaves (Simpson) was obviously putting his heart into the scene as each time the hook makes contact with the floor, it leaves quite a mark in the surface! It's a good thing that the timing between Layton and Hargreaves was spot on Hargreaves usually plays quite meek and mild characters, so this was a big chance for him to show he can do something different.
