I've always liked this one a lot. A more comedy led episode but not farcical. From the opening scene of Arthur and Yorkies rendition of Slow Boat To China, there's plenty of golden moments. Terrys confrontation with the grubbiest Hotel chef in London. Arthur suffering a hangover whilst Er' indoors hoovers the house. The Jaguar being put through it's paces outside the Church and Arthur squaring up to the Groom "Go on Ricky, Drop 'im!" Arthur being rudely awakened from his doze by a football slamming into the car window and then being roundly abused by the young lad... and a contender for the funniest Minder moment ever...Arthur running onto the rugby pitch and hijacking the game, "Don't you speak to me like that! I used to play for the All Browns!"
All based around a half decent storyline of Arthur entertaining his mate from National Service days who's innocently visiting from Rotherham but ends up arriving at a 'part-time models' house in the middle of the night, courtesy of a one armed mini cab driver.
I recoreded this episode off the telly in the mid 80s and watched it over and over again. Still love it to this day.

Very good snippet. Wasn't Arthurs involvement in a Massage Parlour from 'A Tethered Goat'? I'd say the photo was from that episode too.

Was 'Marios' voice dubbed in this episode?
I watched the episode the other evening and I'm pretty sure it was.

Yes a good episode with , as you say, a very 70's on the street feel about it. I agree about the scene in which Arthur looks through the basement window and sees Kev wielding the hammer. Very wooden. The 'owner' of the car which Terry has to reclaim is Graham Stark, who's finest moment surely must be playing Inspector Clousea's downtrodden underling in the hilarious Pink Panther movies.

I remember seeing and reading posts by thomascrown68 and may well have conversed with Stephen on the forums although I didn't know him or anything about him. Sad news, RIP.

I know you've been working on filming dates jno. In one of the newsagents scenes, there's a TRUCK magazine on the shelves. I found a copy of the mag with the same cover online and it's dated as May 1979. Don't know if this helps.

There are some very good scenes in this one and I like it as an overall episode.
Terry pulling George out of the pub is very good.

That photo doesn't do justice to Miss Markham, a very fine looking woman.
Excellent episode this one. Some lovely sarcastic one-liners from Arthur and his jealousy at Terry going racing is funny. Nigel Davenport puts in a good performance as Ray, the aggrieved punter, just the right blend of being an upmarket, nasty piece of work. For some reason I have always loved the look of Barry the Books apartment. A fashionable (for the era) Bachelor pad that he has built through ill-gotten gains. Very little violence for an earlier episode, I think it's just the one punch when Terry chins Barry.

Yes, Arthurs accent is certainly more upmarket in this one. I noticed it in 'Bury My Half At Waltham Green' too. Was Arthur meant to be a little posher or did he turn it on depending on the company he was in?
