Great episode, Arthur getting his 'new titfer' knocked off by Daves Mrs, she hates Arthur, and Terry having to actually mind him from a woman! Hilarious

Love it at the end, as Terry and Arthur are counting out the shamy money, and Chisholm turns up, expecting them to panic, and they keep counting, and he knows the gig is up, while syrup has it away on his toes

Awesome episode, watched again tonight. Shows what we could get away with years ago, Arthur telling us about brick lane 'only saw one other white face, and I think that was David Attenborough!' No racism here, just good clean fun I can imagine even Indian households had a bloody good laugh at in the day

I don't watch James Bond much, but Alan would have been a great villain in the films. He would terrify blofeld with his inquisitive disarming stare, and laugh in the face of bonds quick quips. He'd make a great goldfinger character, with his diabiolical plan for world domination and the suits to make it happen. RIP

Alan was able to be the perfect charming gent, and direct deep feelings of insecurity and fear into his audience at the very same time.... Fantastic actor, will be sadly missed. I don't think cumberband or any of his mates will ever be as good

The one liners are one of the things that makes Minder so great. I think we all would love to think we can be as quick on our wits as Arthur.

Lots of fun banter in this one. Watched it yesterday. Arthur's soliloquies to the taxman, and later ripping off the young wannabe gangster are hilarious.

I thought this one was fun, but every time it's shown on tv, they have less of the scene with Terry teaching the 'Richardson clones' from sarf of the river a lesson. Seeing Arthur skint is a nawse, but then, we get to see just how creative he can get to turn a shilling.

I think wellington might refer to the duke of Wellington being on the back of five pound notes at the time? I could be wrong

Anyhow, back to the show, it's hilarious how the the German cop is there, pompous and 'germanic' and Arthur is trying to convince him he's an old army hero from the war complete with the medals and the stories, his bunny in this is brilliant

I have mates and clients of all denominations and cultures, and, strangely for my industry, I have a big Asian client base. Most of them find it quite laughable the level of PC the average Englishman puts up with. They too think it's gone too far when even friends can't really have a little joke without feeling awkward or embarrassed over the meaning of a phrase or term
We spend so much time trying to show the world that we are so perfect, tolerant and righteous that it then backfires on us and gives our enemies fuel for their fires, such as is and the like. We should take out foot off the gas to total wussification before we have an endless list of cultures and countries we have to say sorry too for some 200 year old transgressions

I like this one, the snooker club scene always reminds me of the film with the Kemp brothers about the Krays, when they take out the Maltese! Nice to see the Mafiosi boys move in, you know barrel is going to get rolled, and his dopey mate will run like the wind!

Watched this last night, really harks back to a time when anything goes, and frequently did, in the clubs around London. The upmarket casino was really little better than the seedy clubs to Maurice, they just served better food and had cleaner facilities, the guys in charge were just as vicious, but better dressed!
Been in a few situations like that myself over my formative years, and just like Terry, some you lose, some you win. In my day, I would probably have been concentrating on getting lessons from the Welsh lady too!

Not to be scary, but he says it happened in about three foot of water, early morning swim though, feeding time for sharks, probably chasing fish into shore and found a nice big human!
He passed away in the 80's

my scar is bigger than your scar was the main one, when one of his mates showing his shrapnel wound, he'd drop his strides and win every time

My uncle found out how friendly Australia is when he went for a friendly dip off bondi beach in the sixties, and came back with a shark attached to his leg. Don't worry, the little Aussie fishie wasn't attached for long, but unfortunately had it away with his leg from the thigh down. Those colonies are never safe! Uncle used to use his wooden leg to win bets in the pub whenever he came back to Blighty

Cheryl Ladd all the way, she drove a cool car too (a mustang iteration as I remember, maybe a cobra or something special edition), hottest body overall, and that's what matters in a crime drama... How the investigators foil perps using their bikini bods!

It was typical Arthur, unleashed. The one liners and 'arthurisms' ran thick and fast in it, absolutely hilarious.

Connery I think is the closest to Flemings bond in reality, but Moore is a close second. I agree that Craig, while good, is not really 'bond'

His bemusement at anything post 1950s style is so funny to watch. I think GC was an absolute master at getting across an offended look when if anyone else tried it, they would come across as offens-ive
