No age at all. Heard the reports a few weeks back about his hospital trip but it wasn't suspected it would turn out to be fatal.
He was some player, stood out as a different class from everyone else, with a low centre of gravity. Unplayable at the 1986 World Cup, and dragged Argentina to the final in 1990 when they were not one of the best teams at the tournament, knocking out Brazil and an Italy team who seemed unbeatable.
It was 10 years ago he also managed Argentina at the South Africa World Cup. Buenos Aires will mourn for Diego Maradona as much as they mourned for Evita.

The hand of god. Superb player but troubled time thereafter. Always a joy to watch on the field though, especially THAT goal! RIP Diego

A legend of the game and by that I mean a proper legend. He was just incredible when he was at his peak.
Probably until Ronaldo came along, I would have said the “greatest” footballer of all time. Better than Pele.
I know he was a very complex individual but highly gifted.
RIP You cheatin’ little... Diego.

100% Legend.
They say no player is bigger than the team, for both Napoli and Argentina he was.
That goal will always ensure he has a special place in the hearts of the Scots, Irish and Welsh, his second goal was sublime.
RIP Diego

A genius, obviously a flawed one. Lived his life in a goldfish bowl. That second goal though. As for his first that day, we can tut tut, but if he was one of yours then you would see nothing wrong with it. He chanced his arm (sorry) and got away with it. Blame the officials. RIP San Diego.

Ironic that he should die on the same date as that other footballing genius, and for me the greatest player of all time, George Best. They were similar in many ways although you could never accuse Best of cheating. Well, not on the pitch anyway.

RIP Diego , as worshiped as much in Naples, as he was in Buenos Aires . 2nd best player of all time, only to Zidane.

Scored his first International goal against Scotland in 1979 aged 18. I never knew that, but then he always scored his International goals against the great nations. Just watched a video of his time at Napoli. I knew he was worshipped in Naples, but didn't realise just how much. 3 Days of national mourning in Argentina. He will get some send off.

R.I.P. Diego Maradona He was still going and still going strong, did you know he went after a game developer for taking his likeness without his permission in a video game in 2017? It was in the news. www.BBC.co.uk/news/newsbeat-39454187I think the developer taken it down in a patch or something. They must have thought, he didn't play video games or something. Diego went out of his way to sue. I'm not joking, I know it seems funny but it is serious. Some money hungry developers, especially this developer who is known for struggling in the gaming industry, if anyone wants to look them up. This developer went out of their way to take his likeness to try to make more money and Diego wasn't happy about it. Even after his retirement, he was active and treasured what he did. That's how much heart he had of his career.

Indeed. I think that QF match against England encapsulated his life: Hand of God (Beelzebub), and the second goal which was pure genius. (Angel)

A shame that he passed away, mind you we've still got Lance Armstrong, Ben Johnson, Shane Warn and Sharapova although I'm not sure these beat up their partners.

Well the media are not worth spit, they’ll tell people what they want them to hear. If the truth doesn’t fit the narrative they want to push then it’s not reported.
