As this is weekend 1, we get an extra death match question.

In your opinion ... Scrappy Doo - do you like him or did he ruin the programme?

As a fan of Scooby Doo, I very much liked the original 1960s show so when this little version came along I have to say I was not too impressed.
"Let me at 'im!" and "Puppy Power" (which sounded like "Puffy Power" to me?) were in my opinion pretty hopeless, but did I still watch it? Yes! Scrappy Doo perhaps kept the Scooby Doo cartoon idea 'fresh' and most importantly on TV, but personally I didn't like him, so it is a public NO from me - sorry Scrappy, nothing personal.

I liked him and said his catchphrases ("Let me at 'im!" and "Puppy Power") at school which annoyed people.

I remember both Alexander and Richard on 'Pointless' saying he ruined the programme.

I didnt like the addition of Scrappy at all. I think the biggest turn off was the fact that he spoke whereas the noises Scooby Doo made were far funnier.

The 1969 & 1972 seasons (which were just Scooby & the gang) were best.
The 1969 one had the best theme tune, a good representation of the USA 'bubblegum pop' of the time.
The 1972 season had a different theme tune, also memorable.

He was good for a short while, then he really did grate. Back in the 70s and 80s you just watched what was on for kids as we weren't exactly spoiled for choice.

Big fan of Scooby-Doo - I can watch it on a loop (in fact watching it now). Apparently Scrappy-Doo saved the franchise and good for him. I love the character and thought he was brilliant and a good addition BUT the original series were the best and fave of those is Foul Play in Funland. I also like The New Scooby-Doo Movies (fave is the Ghost of Bigfoot). I wasn't keen on the Scrappy-Doo episodes simply and because the first was best. Scrappy-Doo and Yabba-Doo were good, though...

I only saw one of the live action films it was okay. I only vaguely remember Yabba Doo but I had to look him up, coz I didn’t remember the name.

Movies was actually cartoons where the gang met up with famous people via their own cartoons characters. There were a few with the Harlem Globetrotters, some with Batman, the Three Stooges, but my fave was with Laurel and Hardy in the Ghost of Bigfoot. Loved Scrappy Doo as a character, but didn't go a lot on the episodes, the villlians, story - I don't know - just not as good as the first series... The live action ones are not my cup of chai at all - saw the first (with fart jokes) and that was enough...

Scrappy Doo completely ruined Scooby Doo. Before that it was serious, so serious and worthy that it was like Edge of Darkness for kids. Of course it was nothing of the sort, but Scrappy Doo still ruined it completely. Hated the little bugger.
