Inspired by the cover versions thread in Off Topic, this weekend's death match vote is...
In your opinion ... which is best? (only one vote/option allowed)

I prefer the Elvis Presley version even though I like the original.

Elvis was what I was brought up on by my Mum!! And patsy cline!!! Crazy blasting every Sunday morning when you had been out night before on the ale was nightmare!! So elvis is a hero to our family. But on this one have to go with Simon and garfunkel. Love elvis last appearance singing unchained melody as well.

Interesting point there gary - my dad would often play this Simon & Garfunkel album on a Sunday morning.
I never knew the Elvis version until recently but was blown away by the vocal and middle section/finale in his version. Elvis always had the "big ending" live and he has done a grand job here. His team have taken the upward scale that lives hidden behind the middle/finale Simon & Garfunkel original and made it a major feature of the piece which just pips it towards Elvis for me.

Nope. Still prefer simon and garfunkels. Even though the king does it justice, can't beat that version. Is it me or is the way Garfunkel sings it quite haunting??

Simon & Garfunkel for me... with a caveat: It has to be vinyl and not CD. I have the remastered box-set and it sounds so cold compared to a 180g original record.

This is a candidate for worst song of the 90s!

It's either this one, Mr Blobby or DJ H featuring Stefy "Think About", but I suppose the topic of worst 90s song is a candidate for its own match.

One of many dodgy records in the early 90s....
