I know that some of you will know of Stephen from his many postings as Steve 56, Thomas Crown 68 or other aliases on various sites that he posted on over many years. As some of you know he passed away last month and there is now a campaign to raise money for a decent funeral. Stephen Doran was 59 and lived in London, alone. Due to his health he couldn't work. His main hobby was the internet which he accessed through internet cafes. He posted many youtube videos on Facebook and other sites as his passion was pop music, films and TV of the 50/60/70s and even further on up to date. His memory for dates of events on TV/radio and film was amazing. He was a loner whose only contact with the outside world was the internet. He had many friends on the internet who he had never met and yet they liked him and vice versa. On the 18th of January 2015 his last post on Facebook took place. It was a pop song by the Equals. He disappeared from the internet then. I contacted a local police station to his address gave them his address and they found him dead in his flat. It is quite possible that Stephen will be given a Social Service burial and I would like to raise funds in his memory to pay for a better funeral than that or at least make a donation to a charity in his name.

Stephen's nickname was thomascrown68 on this forum some time back and he registered on this very site on Tuesday 7th November 2006 at 10:14 in the morning.
Coming back here recently I saw some of the PMs we had exchanged during the early days all about 'Shoestring' and he told me how much he liked it. It was always clear to me that he was an extremely friendly person online and that he had a very good knowledge of films of TV, with many similar interests to myself. This was clearly respected by many people in different parts of the internet as he contributed to and thus help set up many sites such as this one over the years. A lovely chap to me in the short windows of opportunity I had exchanging messages together with him online.

I remember seeing and reading posts by thomascrown68 and may well have conversed with Stephen on the forums although I didn't know him or anything about him. Sad news, RIP.

I knew his name(s) from several forums. Always distinctive with his one-sentence replies.
Sorry to hear of his death. RIP Stephen.

I see that we have already reached the £2K target for Stephen's funeral. Thanks to all those who very generously donated. If you haven't already donated I really do ask you to kindly consider it. Lets give Stephen a good send off to Archive TV Heaven.
Cheers
Kev

From Ray Johnston:
"Update for Stephen’s funeral: It will be on Tuesday the 17th March at the West Chapel Kensal Green Cemetery at 3pm. Although we have raised the original figure we need a couple of hundred more to finish it off."
