He was a major influence on people such as Bill Cosby and Jerry Seinfeld.
RIP, Bob

Quite embarrassed to say that I had no idea Bob Newhart was still around. That's a mighty old age - and of course a superb comic. Records of his stand-up work were regular spins in my childhood. Respect. RIP.

The Walter Raleigh and Bus Driver sketches were regularly played in our house - absolute genius comedy.
RIP.

A very popular and amiable TV comedian in the 70s and 80s with The Bob Newhart Show and Newhart, both which were superb comedies.
Newhart would make my top 10 comedies of all time list, and featured some of the most hilarious moments I've ever witnessed on TV. It also had one of the best final moments to end a TV series.
His patented deadpan delivery was amazingly funny. RIP, Bob.

He did a sketch which I remember being played on radio back in the 70s which spoofed the chart countdowns and concerned Radio Whino and an excitable DJ who got very OTT about a record climbing the Top 1000 and had moved up from position 746 to 742. I can't find it on YT (so far) and my description of it is a bit pedestrian, but as you can imagine Mr Newhart made it come alive. RIP Bob, and thanks for the laughs.
