To a lot of people this is great news to hear.
He did the crimes and served the time, should that be it now?
Not impressed at the BBC calling him an 'EX Entertainer' though as if he had given up.

I'm with Arch, personally I don't see why the BBC are going on about his achievements pre-2014.

Offensives aside, I'm not exactly sure what he's done. Seeing how the press are, gunning for whatever they could to get anyone to read the papers. He's the inventor of the "wobble-board" and it was good enough to appear for Children's television. Seems a bit cheap to me but then he is an artist, so I don't know! I would agree that I'm lost with why his achievements pre-2014 mean. Did it inspire anyone to craft items to get onto television. Maybe I've missed something.

I am not defending RH but Pre 2014 he was a very talented aussie with 3 top 10 singles,he brought the attention of the stylophone to a lot of people including myself,he was a talented cartoonist/painter and who can ever forget his rendition of the Led Zeppelin's song Stairway to Heaven at Glasto. As for his crimes he paid the price for them but his life will always be tarnished post 2014 and as for the media coverage (yes it is their job) but imo once they shoved the knife in they were more around to shove it in further and even tried their best to shove the knife into Sir Cliff Richard (which backfired on them and rightly so ) and Dave Lee Travis etc etc but their careers were tarnished by simply putting into the people's minds.

This is not the place for a debate on the rights and wrongs of whether criminals' non-criminal achievements should define their legacy or not. Or whether the sentence served truly reflects a fitting punishment for their crimes, which, lest we forget, were punished far more leniently due to the tariffs of the time than they would be had they been committed today. However I feel obliged to point out that DLT was convicted of one historic sexual assault and accused of many others (despite his repeated denials) so cannot be put into the same bracket as those unjustly pursued in the wake of the Savile cover-up. It is my personal view that someone's legacy is defined by their worst moments in this sort of situation. Nobody will remember Charlie Manson as a musician, Oscar Pistorius as an athlete, OJ Simpson as an American footballer or even Jimmy Savile as a DJ and TV personality, Stuart Hall as the host of 'It's A Knockout' and so on. IMO it might be better to lock this thread and, should anyone wish to continue a discussion, to do it elsewhere, as it's really not in the "good spirit" guidelines.
