One of the greatest songwriters of all time, without question. I find it difficult to pick a favourite as he was responsible for so many great songs but if forced, I’d probably go for I’ll Never Fall In Love Again, if only for having the cojones to rhyme 'pneumonia' with 'phone you'. Absolute genius.
RIP to one of the very best.

As above, what can be said about him that adds anything new to his brilliance. So many stone cold classics, and dozens more that we didn't even know were his. Too many to list, for me, Alfie by Cilla Black (outstanding) This Guy's In Love With You by Herb Alpert and I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself by Dusty Springfield are at the top of the tree, but so many others are there, and I'd be here all night. RIP Burt. A lifetime of magic moments: Burt Bacharach in pictures | Music | The Guardian Link good at time of posting.

Walk on By for me, especially The Stranglers version which has a real sense of anger about it. A great song can carry numerous intepretations I think.

A legend and an incredible writer and arranger of so many classic songs with lyrics by Hal David. Dionne Warwick worked with Bacharach and David and introduced most of those classics to the world before any of the many many great singers did their own interpretations. RIP

Yes, a great songwriter indeed, and he reached a younger audience with the easy listening revival of the mid-90s onwards.
He did the great songs with Dionne Warwicke and other USA lady singers, which tended to be recorded by Dusty Springfield and Cilla Black in the UK.
Two of my particular favourites of his are 'I'll Never Fall In love Again' and 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head'.
R.I.P. Burt Bacharach.

RIP Dionne Warwick was superb! One of my absolute faves. There was a tribute to Bacharach and David at the Royal Albert Hall in 2000. There were numerous singers (some very well known) tackling the Bacharach and David songs proving that though they might be classed as ‘easy listening’ the songs are not always easy to sing. Dionne Warwick came on towards the end, sang a B&D medley of her own greatest hits and rightly stole the show. ‘Heartbreaker’ the album she made with the Bee Gees is great. Unsurprisingly many great producers have worked with her including Holland Dozier Holland, the recently deceased Philly soul legend Thom Bell and Luther Vandross.

I think the Deacon Blue EP ‘Four Bacharach & David Songs’ released in 1990 and getting to no.2 in the singles charts was significant in reaching younger listeners as well. 'I'll Never Fall In love Again' was the track that got played from it and a great melancholy version it is too.

RIP. Great composer. Personal favourites are "I say a little prayer" by Aretha Franklin and the Stranglers long version of "Walk on By".
