GREAT episode....the first time I saw it, I was dying of laughter when I saw Arthur rolling around the courtroom like Ironside in a borrowed NHS wheelchair!

Watched last night and a great episode. Colin Jeavons was in it and he usually plays any part very well and didn't disappoint in this either.
Arthur kerb crawling, perish the though of AD parting with cash for a bit of slap and tickle, just never going to happen.
I liked the start of this when Arthur was all suited and booted giving his speech amongst his fellow villains, sorry car dealers and speaking about government building too many schools and hospitals, little did the audience know he was being serious. Just brilliant Arthur Daley stuff.
Just a very funny episode, with events conspiring against against the great man, but he had his day in court and came out triumphant.
The Ray Daley years really do stand up well against the originals, in my opinion.
Oh, Amanda Burton had an appearance also, which never hurts, a fine looking woman.

A great episode! It's always fun to see Arthur Daley up against the System. Or as we might say in the US, Arthur Daley vs The Man. George Cole always finds an extra bit of brilliance to unleash whenever Arthur is in a court room or confronting government officials.

Don't think I'd seen this one since its original broadcast, the only thing I remembered was Arthur and the supposed knocking shop. Really enjoyed it, especially the courtroom scenes

There are many episodes that highlight what an outstanding actor George Cole really was, and this is up there with them. His versatility and his effortless way of portraying things like a change in facial expression are priceless. As already stated, his speech to the fellow motor traders is excellent with his serious suggestions being mistakenly assumed to be a joke by the audience is great, but AD not realising they have misread him makes it even funnier. The courtroom scenes are outstanding and it is good to see an old footballing team mate of mine , Rene Zagger playing the part of the young villain in the cell with Arthur.

Great episode, and one of my favourite endings
“Many are called, Mr. Morley, but few are chosen”

I have seen this one many times as I recorded it off television when it was first broadcast and always liked it. I decided to re-watch it today as I recently saw the actress Julia Goodman in another program and saw on her imdb page she was in this episode (as 'female guest').
One very subtle thing that is easily missed as it's not mentioned is when Arthur and Ray load the light bulbs into Arthurs car when the boot lid is slammed shut the number plate lights go out and are still out as Arthur is driving through the red light district, I'm guessing this is to show how the police could confuse his car with the Daimler that Tony is selling (and driving about in) as they were unable to see the registration plate at night.
I liked how 'Goodtime Motors' and Tony were so hard to find and how Tony was more than happy to help a fellow motor trader who was in trouble out.

Any episode where Arthur takes on the system is always first division. But fitted up for kerb crawling by some deaf Doris and a couple of jobsworth coppers? talk about insult added to injury.
An excellent episode that really gets season 9 going imo after a few slightly below par efforts.

This only gets a Good from me as it felt too contrived. Ray had to go round fixing loose ends and coincidences had to happen for Arthur to get off so not that great a story line in my view. The motor traders getting their distance was played a bit naff IMHO though I did like Dave banning Ronnie Letham from the Winchester. It's also fun when another lot of plods come up against our regulars and this didn't disappoint in that respect - Morley's a Sergeant being a typing mistake, for example! And I do agree that there were many good lines in various places but there are better Ray episodes out there, in season 9, for a start. Maybe I was having a bad day and everyone else is right but Good it remains from me.

I don't suppose anyone knows the translation of what the Chinese are saying, in this episode? Surely I am not the only one to be curious. I know there are no subtitles of it...but still...someone must be able to shed light on it (no pun intended, as per the light bulbs )
