Veteran horror/exploitation film maker, died earlier this month. I'm sure a few of us on the forum have seen at least one of his films e.g Satan's Slave, Inseminod, Terror.

Sad news. He made some trashy horror rubbish but I liked it. Satan’s Slave is good but I thought Prey was his best film. It’s a brilliant film that: “Kator calling Orson, come in Orson. So there’s some good news and some bad news when it comes to our planned invasion of Earth, Orson. I’ve discovered that the Earth is populated by man-hating lesbians, who are angry and will put up resistance. On the plus side they are extremely irrational, rubbish at hide and seek and taste great with a bit of salt and pepper...” Made on a budget of somewhere around £800-£1000. He never got a chance to make his reboot of Fiend Without A Face, which is a real shame because I know he put a lot of creative time into that and considering everything he said about it, it sounded ace. Likewise he was ready to go with Prey II, but just couldn’t secure the two grand budget required for an all out alien invasion this time around. I met him once. We had a chat. Nice bloke. RIP Norman. P.S. I’m in the Inseminoid Club, are you?

Sad news. He made some trashy horror rubbish but I liked it. Reading the obit he seems to have done a lot with not very much money. A shame he never had more cash and resources to realise his pet projects, or make more films generally. His career seemed to have coincided with a bad time in the British film industry. There's something about Inseminoid, don't know whether it's the lighting or the sound design, but watching it gave me a headache. A disturbing film, but perhaps not in the way Mr Warren intended.

You’re only in the Inseminoid Club if you own the book and the film ltd, sorry, wimpy headaches don’t count. I recommend the book it’s good, a lot better than the film. So stop fannying about and get it added to your collection while it’s still cheap. I read an interview with Norman and he stated Inseminoid had a budget of 2million pounds. So easily his biggest budgeted film. He also stated that when he made it Alien hadn’t come out yet and it was written without any prior knowledge to the Ridley Scott film. Apparently though Fox demanded they send them a copy of the movie so they could see if they felt it was ripping off their superior budgeted film. Personally I’d have told them to swivel and for Fox to get in line and pay for a ticket like everybody else. I don’t think Norman did though. He was too nice a chap. Anyway Fox sent the movie back (probably snickering as they did so, having seen how cr*p it is) saying “Yeah, we’re happy it’s not that similar to our movie, so we won’t have to get our legal team to sue you.”

I enjoyed his film collection his commentary made him sound like a interesting clever man. Films that were very budget conscious but were still very watchable.

Might have said this before, but I think I read the book back when I was a yoof - the local library used to do lots of Film/TV ins along with exploitation fare like Leo Kessler War P0rn and NEL horror paperbacks. More fun than the endless ranks of James Patterson novels you see nowadays.

Were he a young director now I think he may have found the financial investment side of things easier what with crowdfunding etc (but his films would probably give snow flakes palpations so who knows ?!)
RIP Sir
