For Early Doors fans he will be always remembered for his catch phrase "I'm on me own" when asked if he wanted a drink (meaning he didn't want to go in rounds). In the BBC article you've linked to it was nice to hear from fellow Early Doors cast members Phil Mealey and Christine Bottomley. Phil Mealey and Craig Cash also gave him a small part in 'Sunshine' where he was cast in a similar role to Tommy and the character was even called Tommy (possibly may have hinted at being the same person).
RIP

Yeah he played a good part in Early Doors, he did look and sound like a miserable old toad.
RIP Mr Litchfield.

Mentioned this before but the scene in Early Doors where he professes his dislike of the circus made me laugh out loud. Not that funny in itself but it's all in his dour delivery.
A great grumpy old git.

Really sad to read this. He was really superb as Tommy in Early Doors, on of the best comedies on TV this century, in my humble opinion.
His looks alone at some of the stuff he was listening to in the pub could steal many a scene.
