The co-founder of Fleetwod Mac has died. I think he was the greatest guitarist of his era, better than Hendrix or Clapton. And he was a great blues singer as well. RIP

RIP Peter Green, as you say a great guitarist. I saw a documentary on Fleetwood Mac where it was mentioned he was never the same mentally after a bad experience at a house party in Germany. No one seems to know what happened but the effects were permanent and damaging.

Yes, an under rated and under appreciated artist. Sometimes people remember the slightly inferior, but more “elated” artists.... RIP Peter.

Yes, an under rated and under appreciated artist. Sometimes people remember the slightly inferior, but more “elated” artists.... RIP Peter. This time last year I attended a cousins reunion and late at night at the hotel we got talking about the top 5 greatest guitarists. They came up with Hendrix, Clapton, Jeff beck, Jimmy Page, Dave Gilmour, Carlos Santana for consideration. I asked if they might have forgotten someone. Who? they asked. Peter Green! I said. And they all said f**k!, of course, why didnt we think of him!

He might have been undervalued, but those in the know knew how good he was. Even I know who he is and I could never claim or want to be knowledgeable about anything guitar related.
His lack of widespread acclaim is down to his drug induced mental problems just as Fleetwood Mac were building their career up and which he overcame and got himself back into music, but in a very understated way, but he seemed in a happy place and was happy doing what he did.
You just need to read what other musicians think of him to know how good he was.
RIP

The Peter Green period was my favourite of Fleetwood Mac. The hit singles were very innovative at that time (1968-70).
Fleetwood Mac post-1975 was in effect a different act.
R.I.P. Peter Green.
