Gutted ... apart from above post, honestly Rainbow is innocent kids TV from a bygone generation and Geoffrey is a major part of most of my childhood. Well done Geoffrey, you gave so much to so many.

(Bungle) Bear in mind that the 'Twangers' episode was in house Christmas tape by Thames in 1977, as people will say "can you believe this went out"

Very sad news, he was instantly recognisable to probably millions of people and never seemed to age imo.
Just looked at his imdb and saw that he made just under 1000 episodes of Rainbow, quite a run.
RIP Geoffrey.

'Rainbow' was a show that always seemed to be there. You never really noticed that it had ended.
R.I.P. Geoffrey Hayes.

What a shame. For kids growing up in the 70s and 80s, when childrens TV was around 2 hours a day at most, the sound of that iconic theme tune whilst sitting down to my lunch of soup with usually supermouse/angel delight and seeing the latest episode of Geoffrey, Bungle, George and Zippy, is a memory I can sometimes feel I can reach out relive again.
They didn't half make some good programmes for the 12pm young kids TV slot on ITV.
RIP Geoffrey and thanks for the happy childhood days from me and possibly millions of others.

Rainbow was always the best thing about being off sick from school. Geoffrey, Bungle and friends could always be relied on to cheer you up a bit if you were feeling poorly and down in the dumps.

I remember it was quite sad that for a while he was stacking shelves on a night shift in sainsburys and mini cab driving for a while after his incarnation of rainbow ended

I recall him doing a tv advert around 1999 for virgin money where it showcased his plight as a taxi driver
