John Stride, who played the role of solicitor David Main, in the TV series The Main Chance (1969-1975), died on April 20th, aged 81.
John Stride, also appeared in The Ice House (1978), one of the BBC's Ghost Stories for Christmas.
John Stride, also appeared in many films, including Sink the Bismarck! (1960), Bitter Harvest (1963), Brannigan (1975) and A Bridge Too Far (1977).

Sad day this, The Wilde Alliance is a thoroughly enjoyable show and I loved him in that. Glynn Edwards starred alongside him in 'The Main Chance'.
The Wilde Alliance is very much worth watching - classic afternoon TV. John Stride was the epitome of 70s telly.

As you would expect Peter Wyngarde stands out for the most disquieting image on this page but Kenneth Haigh manages a highly commended second place.
