Time to stop messing about as we bring out the big guns. No gimmicks. Just one v one. Mano a mano. Head to head etc etc Who's the best? Which do you prefer? Last man (or woman) standing wins. First up Burt Lancaster V Kirk Douglas.

This was really difficult. Kirk Douglas has done some brilliant movies... and he's like 132 years old, or something. So respect.
Burt just pips him to the draw for me though.

No contest, Burt all day long. Ex-circus performer (trapeze I think) Birdman of Alcatraz is a classic, never tire of watching that. Kirk is no mug though, some decent films, even if he looks like the patriarch of that nutty family in Texas Chainsaw Massacre these days.

A tough one but I went with Lancaster since I own more of his movies than Douglas'. Both are very good in Seven Days In May.

Burt Lancaster. I'm not even sure why. That was my first reaction.

Burt Lancaster. I'm not even sure why. That was my first reaction. Sounds like how my brain operates when choosing films to watch.

Burt Lancaster - one of my favourite films growing up was Local Hero in which he played Happer, the American oil tycoon trying to buy a Scottish village. Wonderful scenes with the late great Fulton Mackay.
