I believe she had been brought up in a bohemian household.
This put her in a position to work in nightclubs, and meet 'influential' people.
Photos suggest she was swept up in the excitement of the events that became known as 'The Profumo Affair'. Whereas her colleague Mandy Rice-Davies seemed shrewder and more sophisticated.
I think Christine was manipulated by those more important.
R.I.P. Christine Keeler.

I was only reading about Miss Keeler in a book last night and wondered how old she was.
RIP.

I know the story and have seen the movie Scandal. Imagine what a media circus it would be if something similar happened today.

I always assume 'Defence of the Realm' was based loosely on the Profumo affair. I've seen 'Scandal' and thought it was a good, interesting watch. Some believe Stephen Ward was used by the secret service to set up the whole thing.

It was quite a media circus at the time, certainly in (what became) the 'tabloid press' (they were still broadsheets then). I take your point though - it would infiltrate every part of the media now, with endless analysis.

The sad thing is, she could never escape her past and lived with the notoriety of being a high class escort. If this had happened a decade or so later, she'd be a minor celebrity. Very sad indeed

Very sad indeed True. I was listening to a radio programme on the subject last week and at one point she took a job in a school kitchen. After a short time her identity was realised and she was asked to leave as someone with her reputation wasn't deemed fit to hold such a position.
