A couple of memorably intimidating appearances in Minder. An interesting career - far more to the man than just playing heavies, great at it though he was.
Didn't know he was from my home town, good to see someone from The 'Ditch having done well for themselves.

Always good value for money in his roles. Appeared in Who Dares Wins and GoldenEye on the big screen. A sad loss.

Thats a shame.
There was a time when his appeared in about every TV series, usually playing a baddie and usually always gave a good performance. He appeared in 14 different roles in the Bill.
I always thought he had a real menacing look about him, the sort of guy you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of.

This is sad news - superb in two Minders and a real menacing villainous type he could be RIP.

Sad news. Always played his part very well, I particularly liked his role in 'Fools Gold' alongside Sean Bean and Larry Lamb.
RIP.

I was sad to read this as he's one of my favorite actors I first remember him playing Jackson Dawlish (Jack Daw) an ex rock musician turned manager in 'So Haunt Me' in 1992/1993 and thought he was great. He also played a band manager in Lovejoy (the band was played by 'The Hothouse Flowers') he had that distinctive gravelly voice and a real hard man look and portrayed a villain to perfection. He was versatile mind and did a memorable job in 'One Foot In The Grave' as a posh yuppy. I could never understand how he was never given a leading role in a drama possibly as a nasty villain or an old school cop, he would have made a good Gene Hunt in Life On Mars/Ashes To Ashes (when he was in his 40's). I was really hoping that when positions in 'New Tricks' became vacant that he would be cast as a replacement to become a member of UCOS as he would have been perfect for the role, sadly it wasn't to be. I bought 'Yesterday's Dreams' on DVD on account that he has a large part in it although I've yet to see it. Apparently a nice chap in real life. A mention of his passing in the Littlehampton GazetteAn actor who's name wouldn't mean much to many but most would recognise him as he was in so many popular TV shows over the years. R.I.P

I told his granddaughter on Twitter, how good I thought he was as an actor and she said “that would have meant so much to him”
