Having just seen Bryan Adams live and been utterly blown away by him and his band before the Minder meet this year , I just had to make this the 100th death match! Granted, Bryan isn't everyone's cuppa tea, but the list of hits just from last century shows he has some appeal.
This Time (1983)
| Run To You (1984)
|
Somebody (1985)
| Heaven (1985)
|
Summer of '69 (1985)
| It's Only Love (1985)
|
Heat Of The Night (1987)
| (Everything I do) I do It for You (1991)
|
Can't Stop This Thing We Started (1991)
| There Will Never Be Another Tonight (1991)
|
Thought I'd Died and Gone to Heaven (1991)
| All I Want Is You (1992)
|
Do I have To Say The Words? (1992)
| Please Forgive Me (1993)
|
All for Love (1993)
| Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman? (1995)
|
Rock Steady (1995)
| The Only Thing That Looks Good on Me Is You (1996)
|
Let's Make a Night to Remember (1996)
| Star (1996)
|
I Finally Found Someone (1996)
| 18 Till I Die (1996)
|
Back To You (1997)
| I'm Ready (1998)
|
On A Day Like Today (1998)
| When You're Gone (1998)
|
Cloud Number Nine (1999)
| The Best of Me (1999)
|

Where is the option for 'I Don't Listen To Bryan Adams And I Wouldn't Describe Any Top 50 UK Hit By Bryan To Be A Favourite Song Of Mine Under Any Circumstances'? I think that would be a popular box jno I know absolutely none of these tracks.

Couldn't say I was a fan of his and actually once ditched a girl who bought tickets for 'us' for one of his gigs many years ago, but I don't mind some of his early songs like Run to You and Summer of 69. Anything after this is a no go area for me and I think anyone who picks the RObin Hood song should be banned from the forum. He is supposed to be a really nice guy. I maybe read that on here!?!

BA sold out after the Robin Hood song. Live, he is excellent. Prior to Waking Up The Neighbours, he really was considered a rival to Springsteen, but slushy ballads seemed the way forward for him. I liked him in the 80s, did you know he opened up Live Aid in Philadelphia with Kids Wanna Rock? He did annoy me in 1990 when I brought his live CD which was exclusive Japanese import, cost a lot! A few years later, it was released in the UK at a regular price. That was after assurances it would remain a Japanese import.

I've never been a fan of his but I don't mind some of his early stuff. I agree with Daz and MIAS about his Robin Hood song. It wasn't just that I hated the song but it hung around like a bad smell for months.

Oh dear, the witch hunt has begun - fair play to the guy look at how many hits he's had, they can't all be bad and there is no way on this earth you can put him in the same puke bin as Phil Collins.
I agree with ace5150 that he had a lot of slushy ballads and these I am not a fan of either, but I must say the gig I went to recently was probably the best gig I'd seen, he was absolutely superb and engaging in some banter with crowd too, even calling one of them a daft [cu next Tuesday] for putting up a sign requesting a song he'd already played.

Anything but ballads....BA only works when he puts his foot on the pedal...
My vote is '69 and The only thing that looks good on me....

It's pretty good IIRC. It's this girl who is a patient in a psychiatric ward and she's this massive Bryan Adams fan. One day these rebels from Chechnya show up and take over the institute and use it as a fort. Anyway this girl tells everyone to stay calm because she is convinced Bryan Adams is coming to save all the inmates, but then the Russians begin to advance on the rebel fighters and everything goes crazy... I know it sounds like I'm making this up (if you've never seen it) but I'm not and it's a genuinely funny, quirky little drama/romance/war film. Plus the real Bryan Adams is actually in it! He's not the star but he is in it playing himself. You'd like that

I am not a massive fan, just like a few of his tunes. [controversial] As it happens, The Jam also have a pile of songs I don't like either [/controversial] but hey, we're all different and accepting that folks on a forum might have different likes and dislikes is a sure way for everyone to get along.

Let's be frank here....Bryan Adams is hugely overrated in my opinion. Yes, he's got a few good songs, but it amazes me how the guy fills stadiums. His 80s stuff is OK to good, but his 90s stuff is far too slushy. When I saw him in Dubai recently, we left early at the end. Stuff like Please Forgive Me and Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman is just painful to listen to. But there were huge numbers of Indian fans in the crowd all singing along. My mate turns to me and says 'Are we in some kind of religious cult meeting?' He had a point. Summer of 69, It's Only Love et al....yeah, he played all the good ones which were nice to hear. Thought I'd Died And Gone To Heaven is also one song I also quite like. But he didn't play that one live. Thanks Bryan....

Yeah, but The Jam made decent music (unlike Bryan Adams) and realised after six years that to preserve their legacy, it was time to stop. Bryan Adams has been churning out the same old 'Chugger, chugger Milk Float Baby, Baby I love you sloppy slush' since Waking Up The Neighbours came out in 1991. To even compare Bryan Adams with The Jam is simply a non-starter. It's like comparing Jimi Hendrix's guitar playing with Ed Sheeran.

Chugger chugger milk float - fair play, I had a good laugh at that expression.

You won't be able to slag off Adams, because both myself and Arch will be doing the annual singalong!

You won't be able to slag off Adams, because both myself and Arch will be doing the annual singalong! Will we?! Errr.... Right okay. After a few beers as you know I'll singalong to any old b******s. Even Adams. So I wouldn't put it past me. I'll need to learn all the lyrics and get suitably slaughtered before we start blasting out 'Everything I do, I do It For You' for MIAS and TCL though.

I like 'Can't Stop This Thing We've Started' but only because I got it as a pointless answer for 'Pointless'.

You're a brave man jno baring your musical preference to this tough crowd ! I have heard from a friend in Austria (you know this person too jno and I still can't convince her to join the Minder forum) that Bryan Adams plays concerts a lot in Austria. I just remember how hugely popular he was in the 1980s. I will vote for the two songs I remember from then. Summer of 69 and Run to You.

Don't start showing him any sympathy Karin, he's brought this on himself.. If you ask me he's gone too far this time with this whole Bryan Adams death match fiasco. I'm sorry but as far as I'm concerned it's time there was a changing of the guard, so to speak.........

I like 'When You're Gone' (1998) his duet with Melanie C. Other than that I like 'Run To You' but beyond that, not a big fan. As others said, the earlier rock hits morphed into mainstream slushiness
