Very good actor. He will always be Alec Gilroy to me. He was superb in that role.
RIP Roy.

Hmmm not so big on soaps but he played the town Mayor in the miniseries Funland, and that was a flippin brilliant series - one of the real highlights of TV over the last 20 years, I remember him for that. A very sinister, very funny underworld/horror/comedy series. In it RB's character is accompanied by this weird clinking noise.. Later in the series you find out why. RIP

Will be remembered as Alec Gilroy to me also, but first made his name when appearing with the great Les Dawson many moons ago.
RIP

Local radio made a pigs ear of the announcement as Roy Barraclough who appeared in Porridge! Getting their Barracloughs mixed up. Amateurs!

I liked him in Corrie. Great comic actor and it was great seeing him return in 1995 just when Bet was about to leave. He remained for another 3 years and I can remember when he and Ken Barlow (I think) set up the Golden Years dating agency. He also used to wind up the Duckworths.

I see there was an on screen mention about Roy just before the end credits rolled on 'Coronation Street' last night.

R.I.P. Roy Barraclough.
Didn't realise it was as long ago as 1992 that he first left Corrie.
I didn't always like the 'Cissie n Ada' double-act. They did it well, but it could be a bit laboured.
