I had good times reading them. Leo you did a good job.
Plus the amusement didn't end with the comics, I went to high school with a lad that looked just like Plug, we even named him that. Great days.
RIP Leo.

I read the Beano far longer than I probably should have and loved it and all the characters this good man created, The Bash Street Kids were probably my favourite.
A Beano or any other comic were the Ipads/tablets/mobiles of our day and the talent of people such as Leo had in creating the characters and storyboards should never be underestimated.
RIP my good man.

I always liked The Beano best, followed by Wizzer and Chips. The Bash Street Kids, I think were the best creation. One thing I'd love to do is read The Beano, though I know it wouldn't be the same. Have we got a thread on the old comics?

There was one of those in my cadet force troop - I should think most groups of adolescents had a plug-a-like. Chris Donald of Viz fame did a nice tribute to Leo Baxendale on the radio this evening. You can sort of see how some of those Viz stories like Buster Gonad were Baxendale's anarchic streak taken to extremes.

The Beano, was just one of many Comics, that I used to enjoy reading in the 1980s.
R.I.P. Leo Baxendale.

Beano was great and was a big part of my childhood. The art inside was so intricate with layers of gags. I have a book by Leo Baxendale called A Very Funny Business, it is very good. If you love old comics, I really recommend it.
