Very sad. Great band. Centrefold was their masterpiece, but I always liked Freeze Frame more.

They are just playing 'Freeze Frame' now on 6Music. Having just seen this thread, I know why As Ace says, I also prefer Freeze Frame (great organ riff, strangely reminiscent of Racey ). I remember having a tape of the album. IIRC another good song was 'Do You Remember When?' which was also a minor hit. RIP John Geils Jr.

Rolling Stones support act? Yep, 26th June, 1982 at the old Wembley Stadium. They were better than the Stones IMO. Sat about 7 or 8 rows behind us in the Royal Box were all three members of The Police. I can't say I looked more than once at them.

Most surprised/saddened by this news. Of course 'Centerfold' is instantly remembered and remains a firm 'favorite' of mine to this day. Also responsible for 'Love stinks'.
