Suggested by: The Dogs HomePooch wars this week. There have been many dogs in TV series over the last few years, but which of them excels in terms of how cool they are? A few guidelines here - only REAL dogs are to be included, not animated dogs such as Scooby Doo or Krypto The Superdog, plus only from TV series and NOT FILMS. Woof!

Why isn't 'Jack' on here? He's the dog with the eyepatch from Tales of the Golden Monkey.

The Littlest Hobo - Quality TV programme from my childhood and an excellent theme tune. You also missed out Ethel's "Little Willie" from Eastenders.

I didn't know Ethel had a 'Little Willie" I was REALLY torn in this one, I opted for LONDON aka The Littlest Hobo in the end. He is clearly out there doing good and helping folks out which sealed it for me. Flash from the Dukes was definitely second choice, very cool hound dog.

I voted "other" for Buddy from Doc Martin. Granted, he's more cute than cool, but if Flash is cool enough for a nomination then so is dear little Buddy.

Earth to KarinB. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inspector_RexYes jno. I don't know why but Inspector Rex was very popular out here in Australia and to quote yoyopickles "(yes I did say Australia not Austria)". It was televised on our 'international' tv channel that had/has a lot of non English films or tv shows. My Mum used to watch it in the 1990s. So far my mother's tv viewing habits (as I've mentioned so far on the forum) were Magnum and Inspector Rex. Oh and Minder 'cos my Dad would have that on. Both not here anymore but clearly discerning viewers. Some more real dogs to consider are: - Eddie, the little Jack Russell in Frasier (My Mum watched this show too) - Rin Tin Tin -Murray, the red border collie on 'Mad About You' (remember that US series that starred Helen Hunt years and years ago)

Earth to KarinB. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inspector_RexI watched it in Australia with English subtitles, on THE SBS channel,as the former 'er indoors used to watch it, she did not need subtitles as she spoke Austrian German very well. It's only recently that we are getting more non English language tv shows over here, such as DEUTSCHLAND 83, THE RETURNED and THE OCCUPATION.........

I liked Shep in Blue Peter. If a dog suffered Tourettes, it would be Shep. Mad as a box of frogs.

Get DOWN Shep! John Noakes liked doing impressions of James Brown back in the day.

Eddie from Frazier. I had a long haired Jack Russell for 15 years as a kid so can’t pick another.
And that is post 500. Time for bed.
