As some of the world is on the token January diet, it is now time to decide ...
If you had to choose you favourite, would it be Curry or Pizza?

Proper or High Street muck? You'd better ask Arch. I compared stuff I could buy in the High Street while out and about.

Proper or High Street muck? Valid question. Also bought or home made ? I don't like pizza at all. It would be my last choice always. But of course there are fancy gourmet varieties these days, but I just don't like eating toppings balancing on a triangle.

I voted curry by the way! If you cook or get served a very decent curry, it's practically unbeatable! Especially if washed down with a few pints of beer and a well packed bowl of pipe tobacco!

The English language is bizarre at times or maybe just its users. This reminds me of when my friend said he was watching dogs dancing on the tv. Hmm were they dancing on top of his tv ?!

Curry for me. We're lucky enough to have an excellent curry house in our town, 'Grameen Tandoori'. The flavours in some of their speciality dishes are outstanding.
I do like (good, decent) Pizza a lot but I always view it as something quick and convenient to eat rather than a proper meal.

Anything homemade is far better than take-ways or shop bought.
The famous high street Pizza houses don't generally serve up proper Italian Pizzas. They claim to the contrary but "Mextex BBQ chicken" doesn't sound very Italian to me.
Take-away curries are packed with clarified butter. 'Orrid. Give me meatballs with mint and corriander in a tomato sauce - great with pasta, rice or cous-cous.
I'm sitting on the fence.

I like both. When I go running I tell myself I am justified a pizza afterwards.

I like both. When I go running I tell myself I am justified a pizza afterwards. Mine is a capppucino and a biccy. Well there has to be a reason to run. (Before I'm told that I'm off the topic, the deathmatch threads seem to just naturally promote chat)

I agree Karin! Nothing wrong with a bit of pizza chat.
Pizzas - I am an absolute sucker for a Hawaiian (Ham & Pineapple), Tonno e cipolla (Tuna and onions) and if I am on a real calorie fest it is Quattro formaggi (4 cheeses) - love it, but I always think I will drop dead afterwards. On my hols in Spain recently I lobbed a bit of raw onion on the Hawaiian pizza - my breath stunk but oh boy was it good in the interim. As for curry, I have been known (once!) to make my own restaurant-style Korma courtesy of a major lesson from master chef ace5150 ... - sadly I have not repeated the feat recently but in the meantime, as 'er indoors won't do spicy I heartily recommend this sauce for those who want a pudding for their main course - and no, that is not cannabis on the label:
I met Mr Patak once at a wedding. Very nice bloke as it happens.

Curry every time. Had a chicken phall just last night. Time spent in the little room this morning was "interesting" ?

Basically, they are VERY different. The pizza is a light meal in itself, albeit a large scale snack. Curry would need rice at the very least. Then it's a main meal.
I make my own pizza, including the dough which I add olive oil and marjoram which is young oregano. I use buffalo mozzarella cheese, you won't beat it! However, I have eaten from Dominoes and felt the takeaway box had more taste and texture.
I also make my own curry, including naan bread. I am confident my curries pass stringent tests, I have slowly learned to cook Nepalese curries, far drier than Indian, and feel confident to passing the grade. I do prefer Nepalese curries. However, I do frequent decent curry establishments, and each time have ALWAYS been impressed with the results.
Steer clear of curry sauces in jars, whilst decent 2nd division Fayre, it's not in the same league as a true freshly made sauce.
Overall, for me.........a curry. Just!

Personally, I would make this pizza by roasting the Med Veg with olive oil and garlic first. Trust me, you'd know the difference!

Curry every time. Had a chicken phall just last night. Time spent in the little room this morning was "interesting" ? Phall is basic tomato based curry sauce with lots of chillies to make it hotter. A pointless dish, the chillies numb your taste buds so you can't appreciate the flavour. Seen plenty of lads think they can handle it. They can't. I don't go above Madras, I can still taste the flavours with a Madras. Vindaloo and Phall I won't waste my time on.

The problem I have with Madras is that so often it's just lumps of meat in a sauce, with little else to it.. At least that's my findings from years of experience I tend to go chicken 'tikka' jalfrezi when trying out a new curry house. With the obligatory shami kebab starter.. Personally I reckon the jalfrezi has better textures and flavours. All down to preference though.. I also see nothing wrong in ordering phalls, but I seriously doubt I would bother Ace for the same reasons you stated. I've tried many, many different curries over the years and have had both mild and really hot ones. Ridiculously so. But you're right, you do compromise almost everything else for the heat. Having said that, my taste buds are probably shot anyway

I don't just eat it with rice though... Depends on the curry! I also think pizza is usually eaten as a main.. At least it is when I'm involved.

I find both of these are interesting dishes - I've eaten both in different parts of the world and there is a LOT of inconsistency depending where you eat 'em.
An Indian restaurant cooking a Korma or Rogan Josh in Spain or Austria is not the same as a British one. Indian pals of mine have said "we don't eat that". Personally I think British curry houses are best though, but that is solely based on personal taste.
Likewise with pizzas, how many people have I heard saying "Oh, in Italy they're much better!". It's all about enjoying what you want and personal satisfaction. Like red wine, if you find one you like, you return to it and use that as a benchmark to measure others against it.
