Mike Berry aka Mr Spooner from "Are You Being Served" but for me he was Mr. Peters in Worzel Gummidge which later ended up in NZ! Mr Berry has his own website here: www.mikeberry.netNow then, I wonder who voted for Genesis?

I am the Genesis voter. A bit disappointed CLiff wasn't on the list, but more than made up for by the including of BA Robertson and Kenny Rogers. BA RObertson was a grade A ****. The interview with the singer from Bow Wow Wow, is classic TV and showed him for the smug git he really is.

I voted for BA Robertson for his attempt to ruin The Monster Club.

I notice that Sue Wilkinson is missing. Is she redeemed by good looks?

St Winifred's get my vote, loathed by myself at the time, and my gran oddly enough. Don't remember the Smokie and UB40 songs but voted for them on principle, the principle being they were always sh!te.
I remember quite liking the Marti Webb one.

Hi 5, daz....
Easy...as it can't get much lower than Genesis (Phil Collins Years), it's Turn it on again for me...terrible, flat, unimportant "Shopping-Mall-Lift"-music.

Collins was everywhere by the late 80s. But I have no problem with the earlier career of Genesis. They had many good years, going from prog through the New Wave upheavals. Only when MTV kicked in by the mid 80s did they go naff.

Everyone entitled to opinions regarding music - all a matter of taste. Let's just keep things nice and friendly on forum please. I like Chas'n'Dave's few big hits as it happens and even confess to purchasing one of them in 1982.

I like Chas'n'Dave's few big hits as it happens and even confess to purchasing one of them in 1982. You loser, Chas N Dave are pants..... Only kidding...... I like C&D too and have a couple of their albums (even some of their Black Claw early prog rock stuff on disc)!! In the interests of moderation I have checked 'Off Topic' topics/threads for examples of 'Chas N Dave sniping history' and have found nothing so far..! Which is a shame because I was hoping to come down on MIAS like a ton of bricks over it..... but all I could find were jibes about Status Quo trying to steal their double act!

Harsh on Marti Webb this was. That flying lizards 'song' was excruciatingly awful. I would have given mention to the original Suicide Is Painless. The Manics did an amazing job turning this into the great song they did.

Agree about Marti Webb and THe Flying Lizards.
I like the original MASH theme song (recorded in a style very typical of its time, i.e. 1969 rather than 1980). The Manics made a decent cover version.

Marti Webb and St Winifred’s for me. I can’t vote for Kenny Rogers. Even though I detest most country music, his gig at Cardiff in 1998 was one of the best I’ve ever been to. ‘I don’t do encores,’ he says. ‘What’s the point in you guys banging the floor for 10 minutes? So this will be the last song. Thank you and good night.’ Then he did Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town. What a man! I didn’t pay for my ticket by the way...I won two in the local paper. Took me and the then girlfriend who thoroughly enjoyed it. Talking of rednecks. Look what we’ve got in Portrush later tonight. Kiefer Sutherland’s band are there too, live on the beach. g.co/kgs/5aP3SnSadly, I’ll be busy washing my hair listening to some proper music. Or just getting ready for the new Premiership season. Jack Bauer goes hick. Whatever next.

It seems like only yesterday !! Has to be Keith Michel, and Smokie
But only by a whisker....
Apparently Smokie are still going - hopefully they keep going, and never come back !! According to Wikipedia, they've been boring the nation rigid since 1964, a lifetime cure for insomnia...

As long as The Dooleys never win this, I will be happy, "Love Patrol" is superb!

Turn It On Again? Who writes this stuff?
And Captain Beaky, Amigo, Kool In The Kaftan, Hot Dog and Dream A Lie would all get on our jukebox, so there!
