Don't worry Daytona.. KarinB knows full well that being Australian automatically negates any comments she has to make on class, style or culture. Us Aussies with no class, style or culture ? Whatever gave you that idea ! Jeez!! Linda Kozlowski has aged badly.. Maybe they should have given her a Hollywood makeover before that reunion photo! I remember The Paul Hogan Show being shown over here (I'm gonna say Friday nights mid 80s), it seemed on about the same level as Benny Hill. I thought it was really funny.

Man, I just noticed this thread has really spiralled off topic!! I'm as guilty as everyone else involved I know, in fact I'm probably the worst person for it.... but we should at least mention the crocodiles on Live and Let Die or something..!

My uncle found out how friendly Australia is when he went for a friendly dip off bondi beach in the sixties, and came back with a shark attached to his leg. Don't worry, the little Aussie fishie wasn't attached for long, but unfortunately had it away with his leg from the thigh down. Those colonies are never safe! Uncle used to use his wooden leg to win bets in the pub whenever he came back to Blighty

He should have been carrying some Shark Repellent Bat Spray in his diving belt.. Out of interest what bets did he win? They weren't shin kicking contests were they??

my scar is bigger than your scar was the main one, when one of his mates showing his shrapnel wound, he'd drop his strides and win every time

I must admit when I go to the beach I don't venture out too deep.

Not to be scary, but he says it happened in about three foot of water, early morning swim though, feeding time for sharks, probably chasing fish into shore and found a nice big human!
He passed away in the 80's

George Lazenby was the most intriguing Bond on film. And OHMSS was probably the coolest Bond film.

I liked Lazenby, I thought he was really good. He's mint in Stoner and Who Saw Her Die. Top movies

At the time there were concerns that certain celebrities were emerging from 'nowhere', i.e. not through the established routes of journalism, broadcasting, live performance or repertory acting.
Such as George Lazenby, Simon Dee, Kenny Everett were regarded as mavericks. E.g. Lazenby was most un-Bond like having grown long hair and a beard by the time that OHMSS was being released in late 1969, some months after his filming was completed. This did not go down well with the producers.
I think the powers in broadcasting and entertainment wanted to curtail some activities. I suspect they were also concerned by the early deaths of such as Jones, Hendrix, Joplin and Morrison, and the general scene of chaotic festivals, hangers on, substance abuse etc. It was moving further away from innocent light entertainment and the establishment had to regain control.
Dee never really returned (albeit as much his fault as anybody else's), Lazenby had a lower profile career, and eventually Everett re-emerged via radio to be a big TV star.
Ironically these people were the forerunners of such as Chris Evans and 'reality-type' stars.
