This week's question is: Who is cooler ... Superman or Batman?

A really tough question this one, but in terms of who is "coolest" I think Superman wins by a nose for me. He does the great thing with his eyes, is generally rock hard and can of course fly. He does of course crumble when there is a bit of kryptonite about. George Reeves and Christopher Reeve are also pretty cool.
No doubt about it Batman is cool too though. Certainly in modern times on screen is also pretty rock, Adam West's incarnation is one of the coolest TV characters ever, but I am 0.00001% more inclined to choose Superman because he has more powers, which wins it for me - but only just, oooh, it was tough.
Batman has the coolest car though, but then again when you can fly, you don't need a car, right?
Season 1 was filmed late 65, early 66. The movie was filmed spring 66.

Batman for me also and it has to be Adam West. I think this era of Batman is so cool because it is just taking the Mickey out of itself. The studio sets and props were purposely so cheesey its fantastic. I think the coolest moment has to be from the film when Batman is hanging on to a rope ladder which is attached to the BatCopter, hovering over the sea. "Quick Robin! Pass me the Shark Repellant Bat Spray!" Also, has there ever been a cooler theme tune? The original by Neil Hefti is brilliant.

Loved them both. Christopher Reeve the only Superman for me. Loved Adam West as Batman. Also liked Michael Keaton, not George Clooney though even though I like George Clooney ie Oceans eleven. And of course Jack Nicholson as The joker was a masterstroke by Tim Burton!! Going to have splinters on my bum for this one!!(sitting on the fence). ?

I have to vote for Batman. No Question. He is far cooler than Superman by miles in my opinion... And I'm not even thinking about the TV or Film adaptations!

Well both legends of course. Christopher Reeve so made the role his own in those movies. What a gorgeous looking man he was. BUT Batman had the cool car, and a batcave ! Now that is the ultimate garage. He gets my vote.

Bat boat I have to say that leaving all these bits of technology hanging about, Batman didn't do much to protect his identity - who is that bit of harbour where the bat boat is moored up registered to then? Mr B.A.T Mann, address: Bat Cave? Also, where does he get his Batmobile MOTed? Eek, what do I know? Billy no mates again it seems I'm the only voter for Superman!

I thought that the vote would be closer.

I was always pretty amazed that no one could work out who Robin was i.e. Dick Grayson. Likewise with Superman played by Reeve - him and Kent were very alike and was the whole world really fooled?
Batman's jump the shark moment was definitely the introduction of Batgirl and Eartha Kitt as catwoman. Move over Mrs Peel ... no one can beat Julie Newmar in the hottest 60s actress stakes and even Adam West agreeeeeeeees...

Batman edges it for me. A far darker, more human and tormented superhero who doesn't have any powers at all to speak of. Superman was great but someone told me he was better portrayed in the comics from the mid to late '80s.

Here's the trailer for the new death match movie, clearly inspired by the thread on this here forum! Next question, is this film hit or s**t ?

Just reading through this thread and if ever something was a close call the picture to the right with catwoman was the clencher, I mean clincher. I would have paid good money to be the camerman for that shot! Batman has always been my favourite, although Superman, or SUperman 2 was the second film I ever saw at the cinema, Condorman with Michael Crawford being the first!

Batman all the way. Superman was super, he couldn't help but be a super....man. Batman had to work at it. Who wouldn't dream of being totally rich, and use that money to buy the best cars, bikes, choppers etc, and fight crime to get the girls! That's me, where do I sign up. I want an underground base with a secret entrance and a turntable!

Any fans of 1950s 'Superman' with George Reeves on here, or am I (yet again) in the Charlie No-chums club?

I saw Tonks driving the Batmobile this week and he didn't signal at a junction! I've told him countless times. I blame that 1931 first edition of the highway code he uses... I suppose it's about time I got him a new one.

A colleague of mine, who had read hundreds of DC comics, commented after Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice came out:
‘I don’t even understand why they have made this movie. There is a golden rule at DC comics, Superman NEVER wins. It’s a non-debate. Why even have it? If Superman won, aliens would rule Earth. Batman always wins because humans have to protect their home from aliens. In fact, Superman should be thankful to Batman, as Batman is always getting him out of scrapes.’
Therein ends this debate.

In fact, if you watch the new Justice League movie....Spoiler Alert if you’ve not seen it....stop reading now....
Who has the idea of bringing back Superman against the advice of all the other superheroes? Batman.
And once revived, how does the Man of Steel respond? He tries to beat the sh** out of Batman. Geez, thanks Kal-El.
But being the more intelligent, Batman realises that Lois Lane will be able to tame Superman. This ultimately saves the day (again).
I rest my case. Batman every time.

Batman, obviously!
Superman wasn't really heroic or brave, if you think about it. He could fly, he had x-ray vision, he was strong enough to lift a continent, he could withstand the blast of an atom bomb, he was indestructible and living on a planet where, by comparison, the dominant race was nothing more than insects. Oh and if things got really bad - like his bit of stuff got snuffed out - he could even turn back time by contra-rotating the whole f*cking planet! He was always gonna win every time.
And Batman's costume was cooler too. And his enemies were better.
P.S. And I've not even mentioned the Corgi Batmobile. F*ck yeah!!!
