'Der Kaiser' has died - www.BBC.co.uk/sport/football/67917047. Before my time as a player but was so much the German Bobby Charlton that they marked each other out of the 1966 World Cup Final. One of the greatest by all accounts and one of only 3 to win the World Cup as a player and manager.

Along with Cryff was considered top player in the World through the 70s. A bit of a shocker somehow this one. 78 seems young enough now. It probably isn't when you think about it.
The 2nd guy to win the World Cup as player and manager. Died 3 days after the first guy to do it - Mario Zagallo of Brazil.
Only other guy to do it is Deschamps when France won the World Cup in 2018

Great player and like Moore, very classy and ahead of their time from the usual CB of the era….

A formidable player and manager. Someone who inspired many, far beyond his native land. RIP.

Played half a game with his arm in a sling due to having a break in it.
As we say around these parts 'a proper mannies fitba player'.
(No offence meant ladies).
RIP
