www.BBC.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-67667166Sad to read this. A definite favourite in my family; both my mum and nan used to swoon regularly. Also starred in two of my favourite films; 'The Driver' and 'A Bridge Too Far' RIP

One of those actors who made a load of good stuff in the 1970s then seemed to make nothing of note thereafter. Apart from films already mentioned, also worth pointing out The Games (1970), a very good movie. Barry Lyndon and What’s Up Doc - which I haven’t seen for about a hundred years but remember really enjoying.
Not seen Paper Moon, Wild Rovers or The Big Bounce but would like to. Bounce had a wonderful tagline: “Nancy was beautiful...but not very pretty!“. Elmore Leonard. Wasn’t it remade fairly recently?
RIP Ryan.

Agree about The Games - a great film with terrific performances from Stanley Baker and Michael Crawford. Obviously The Driver is also a standout from his CV.
RIP.

A strong sense of 'what if' hangs over him. Red hot from Love Story he continued with starring roles including What's Up Doc with Barbra Streisand. Stanley Kubrick chose him well for the title role in his utterly breathtaking Barry Lyndon. He never really pushed on from his 1970-75 prominence, when he was a huge star, as would have been expected. Though being with Farrah Fawcett and living in Hollywood he was certainly a success in our eyes! The iconic The Driver being his stand out role after the mid 1970s. Unfulfilled talent however, though it may just have simply been a matter of choosing the wrong roles after the 1970s. RIP Ryan. Ryan O’Neal: a life in pictures | Film | The Guardian

Love Story, A Bridge Too Far and The Driver are all essential viewing. Haven't seen What's Up Doc for years and i really hope they repeat it soon as the chemistry between him and Streisand is palpable and he plays it spot on in an almost young Cary Grant light comedy role
RIP Sir

Really enjoyed his performance as The Driver. Cool, collected, mean, moody but ultimately the top man.
RIP.

Driver was brilliant 👍
Like many Actors made some great and not so great films,I do remember Ryan being in a film called Tough Guys Don't Dance (late 80s early 90s) which at the time was good but not so sure if viewed now.
RIP Ryan.
