An prolific actor with his first credit being in 1949 and his last in 2014. What I've seen of him is mostly his television work (which is very good) I have seen a clip of him in the film 'Rough Cut' (1980) which is a film I've wanted to see for a while.
RIP

Highly respected star of stage and screen, always excellent. Must be the last of his generation of actors to pass on? Also made a memorable appearance in the video for Always On My Mind, the Pet Shop Boys smash hit. A magnificent cameo in the original Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, as Jerry Westerby opposite Alec Guinness' George Smiley, which I happen to have watched on DVD last week. RIP Joss. He was brilliant in BBCs Shadowlands and far far better than Anthony Hopkins portrayal of CS Lewis in the film adaptation, brilliant just brilliant.
RIP Joss.

With his presence and accent always stood out whatever he was in another actor who had left a vast body of work over the decades. RIP

A magnificent cameo in the original Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, as Jerry Westerby opposite Alec Guinness' George Smiley, which I happen to have watched on DVD last week. I'd love to have seen him in an adaptation of The Honourable Schoolboy, but I suppose the BBC drama budget wouldn't stretch to filming in Hong Kong. He did meet up with another Smiley though in A Murder of Quality. Surprised he never showed up in Minder - can well imagine him as one of the genuinely menacing figures that appeared in the earlier episodes.

Sad news, such a familiar face and great actor. Was a great addition to 'Tinker, Tailor...' as already mentioned and 'Villain'.
RIP JA.
