Mrs Warboys is probably one of the best, if not the best supporting characters in a TV show ever. Superb in every scene she appeared in and played wonderfully by Doreen Mantle.
Top actress.
RIP Doreen Mantle and thank you for all the laughs!

One of those actresses which appeared in a lot of the years although you might have always noticed her name, her acting as Mrs Warboys was brilliant totally deadpan but would irritate the Meldrews so much although a supporting character she was as an important character as Victor and Margaret in the show.

I remember her appearing in an episode of Special Branch and was quite surprised to see her in a straight role - just always associated her with One Foot in the Grave, but she seems to have had an extensive career before, and since.

Wonderful in One Foot in the Grave. She somehow made an annoying character totally endearing. 97 is a fine age, but all the same, sad to hear this. RIP.

She made some episodes of OFITG her own, which was no easy feat considering the performances of Wilson and Crosbie, coupled with the excellent writing.
RIP

I remember her appearing in an episode of Special Branch and was quite surprised to see her in a straight role - just always associated her with One Foot in the Grave Interestingly before 'One Foot In The Grave' she had always played straight roles, on interview she stated that David Renwick (writer & creater of OFITG) had asked her to play the role of Mrs. Warboys (I think he may even have written it for her) to which she agreed to do it but told him that she had never done comedy before and if he wanted to cast an actress with experience in comedic roles she would understand however David insisted that he wanted her to play it so she did. David Renwick's first choices for Victor and Margret were also Richard Wilson & Annette Crosby I think he like John Sullivan and Victoria Wood had the ability to pick out fairly unknown actors/actresses and see their talents and was able to write for them. Doreen Mantle described her character of Mrs. Warboys as "completely tactless" which I think sums her up. 97 is a good age RIP
