Confirmed officially as deceased having gone missing while trekking in California. Made his professional life in Hollywood, which was the UK's loss. Chiefly remembered this side of the pond for Room With A View, The Killing Fields etc, but he was a quirky talent and followed his own path. A fine actor and a nice guy by all accounts. RIP Julian. Julian Sands – a life in pictures | Film | The GuardianLink good at time of posting.

Very sad and tragic news that was when he’d gone missing. I knew after a few days/week or so after the news went dead it’d only be a matter of time before he was officially declared dead.
RIP Mr Sands.

Very varied career, didn't seem precious at all about his work. The last thing I saw him in was We're Doomed, the TV film about Dad's Army in which he played John Le Mesurier/Sergeant Wilson. That must have been a while ago as John Sessions who was Arthur Lowe/Captain Mainwaring died a couple of years back.

RIP Mr Sands. He did some European horror also, with Dario Argento, and also Warlock (1989), which I'd quite forgot, and is rarely seen nowadays. He plays the son of Satan, who is pursued from the 17th century by a time travelling witchfinder (Richard E Grant) in modern day Los Angeles. Sounds ace.

I had that and Warlock 2 on video. Never got round to them on dvd, should rewatch them really, see if they still stand up. Argento’s Phantom of the Opera was pretty rubbish though.

Rip Mr. Sands....who for one thing, I knew of from the fine, if obscure mid 90's TV film, "The Tomorrow Man".
