Very sad news that prolific stunt artist-turned-director Ray Austin died earlier this week. He worked on many ITC shows and The Avengers during the mid-60s before turning to directing and helming episodes of The Professionals, The New Avengers and many American shows such as Hart To Hart, Airwolf, The Fall Guy, Spenser For Hire and Magnum P.I. www.raymondaustin.comI was lucky to have met him on several occasions and he was always happy to chat and had a wealth of stories to tell. RIP.

A great loss. He was a great stunt performer and a fine filmed television director. RIP.

I've been watching The Saint on Talking Pictures and Ray Austin appears in a few of the early episodes - but not just as a stunt man. In many episodes he's a guest actor and does dialogue scenes with Roger Moore before a fight scene. This makes the fight scenes extremely realistic when compared to other scenes were stunt men have to double the actors. He also directed quite a few episodes of my favourite series including 9 episodes of Space 1999, 7 of The New Avengers and 2 of The Professionals.
RIP Raymond
