Heard about this earlier this afternoon. His show was pretty much the first of its kind wasn't it and spawned many copies. I remember holidaying in Florida circa '94/5 with forum member Chopper and two other mates and seeing the Jerry Springer show on US television, it was something completely new to us and we were fixated. Subjects such as, 'I'm your husband but I've also been having sex with your brother for the past 6 months' were quite groundbreaking to us at the time!
RIP Jerry, thank you for the entertainment.

I cannot believe Jerry Springer was almost 80! Made a fortune and reputation out of dysfunctional American retards and exhibitionists. Can you imagine a show like Jerry Springer being on TV nowadays. There’d be people calling it out left, right and centre for abusing mental health.
RIP Jerry.

Whenever he was interviewed he came across as a very intelligent, even cultured, sort of chap. Difficult to square in some ways with his role as ringmaster on the TV show.

Apart from when channel hopping I've never watched any of his shows - got enough of awkward people at work.
RIP Jerry.

But he certainly found his calling.

He spawned the Steve Wilkos Show! Steve Wilkos being the security of Jerry's show! The producer of Jerry's show was Steve Wilkos' wife, if I would remember but yeah, Jerry gone and retired. he still did a show even after his retirement age, too. Just shows how popular and strong he was allowing some of the interesting characters in America.
I also liked how his show was parodied in media like Austin Powers 2. It was that influential.
RIP Jerry. You've really put one of the greatest shows in the world!

Can't say I cared at all for his show, which did no-one any good, but give the guy some credit: it was an original idea, now much copied sadly. RIP, Jerry.

RIP
He certainly had an interesting start to life born at a London Underground station during the blitz. I believe he had an English mother and an American soldier Dad.
