Shocked by this, Jeff Beck was and always will be GOD. He plays stuff no one else can and he is arguably the best out there.
Meningitis - I had this as 12 year old, ended up in hospital for 2 weeks, crippling neck pain and couldn't get up or walk in a straight line, memories of the lumber puncture are not pleasant at all, it was horrible and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
I sincerely hope he didn't suffer.
RIP Jeff Beck, forever respected!

He was nearly a great rock star but his career was more modest after the 60s. Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood left his group and joined The Faces, sustaining greater success. 'Barabajagal' with Donovan (1969) was a great single, inspiring the baggy-rave period in the early-90s R.I.P. Jeff Beck.

He pretty much invented the twin lead guitar harmonies later employed by Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden with this 1967 number:
