Such a gifted footballer and had a degree of humility not often seen these days amongst some of the footballing fraternity. RIP

RIP Pelé
He brought fun to the game and a big beaming smile. The game has got far too serious now to express even the slightest bit of character or personality which he had in abundance.

When people die it's all too easy to wheel out the 'legendary' description, but in this instance it's more than deserved and wholly accurate. One of the greatest, if not the greatest footballer to ever grace a pitch with his presence. He always seemed down to earth and the perfect role model. One of a kind. A huge loss. RIP to a true legend who was loved and admired the world over.

It was sad to hear recently how he had become very ill. RIP. Legend.

The greatest of all footballers. A wonderful ambassador for the game after he finished playing who always had a smile on his face. RIP Pele.

That Brazil side of 1970 changed the way the game was played, and I always think of it as bringing colour quite literally to football. 1966 was broadcast in black and white at unglamourous locations like Goodison Park (which is where Pele was literally kicked out of the tournament). The dummy of the 'keeper against Uruguay is possible the single greatest piece of thinking I have ever seen on a football pitch and Pele pretty much invented "soccer" in the USA. RIP PS. No-one mention 'Escape To Victory'

No-one mention 'Escape To Victory' Good film Escape To Victory, IIRC Pele scores an overhead kick. Also has anyone seen Once In A Lifetime, the documentary about the New York Cosmos and them getting Pele? I’ve always fancied seeing this but have never got round to it. RIP Pele. Undoubtedly the most legendary player to play the game.
